Chapter 18
Chapter Eighteen
Knight
Jenna has been in the bedroom with Kelly for the last three hours. The party officially started thirty minutes ago, and I’m starting to think she’s never coming out.
“Everything okay in there?” I call out, needing to make sure she’s okay.
The door opens, and Kelly walks out in thigh-high boots so tall she’s almost my height. Her dress is skimming the top of the boots, and I know for a fact that one of my brothers, if not multiple, is going to make it their mission tonight to see if she’s wearing panties under that skimpy skirt.
“Just putting on the final touches. Brace yourself. My girl cleans up well.” She winks at me and pats my shoulder when she stops next to me.
“Come on out, babe!” Kelly calls, and my jaw hits the floor when she rounds the corner.
“Told ya. You two make all the bad choices, but don’t take too long because the party is for you.” Kelly says as she leaves the suite, but I can’t be bothered to acknowledge her.
I think I’ve swallowed my tongue.
“Well?” Jenna twirls in place.
Her blonde hair is curled around her shoulders.
The shimmery little pink dress clings to her skin, low-cut in the front and completely backless.
There’s just enough fabric to cover her ass if she doesn’t sit or bend over.
Her nipples are rock hard, drawing my attention, and I’m mentally doing the math of how many men I might have to kill tonight for seeing her in this outfit.
“I can change.” I look up at her face.
“Don’t you dare. You look fantastic.” She smiles and comes over to kiss me with her luscious lips painted the same color as her dress.
“Mmmm, watermelon.” I lick the gloss off mine when she backs away, and I think skipping this party and fucking her on every surface of this suite is a better way to spend our night.
“Oh no. I know that look. Let’s go. We’re already so late.” I pout, making her laugh as she drags me to the door.
“Later?” I sound fucking pathetic, but I don’t give two shits.
“Definitely later.” She opens the door and winks at me.
I help her down the stairs, and as soon as someone catches sight of us, they whistle, and then clapping starts.
“About fucking time. You look incredible,” Pirate says to Jenna.
“Prez, you’re eye fucking my woman,” I growl, to which Pirate chuckles.
“How’s it feel fucker?” Oh, I hate him so fucking much.
He’s been waiting to use that against me.
“You hadn’t claimed her yet.” I hiss, reminding him of the difference.
He slaps my shoulder and kisses Jenna’s cheek.
We greet all the people, slowly making our way around the room.
Jenna gets to meet a few more members of the club, including two nomads who use us as their base camp when in the area.
Kelly seems to have taken a liking to the taller of the pair, and I can see a few of our core members giving them salty looks.
“She’s breaking hearts,” Jenna comments as I grin.
“And egos. They’ll live.” I turn back to the conversation we’re having with Flip when the lights flicker and go out.
The generator takes less than five seconds to kick on, but the power outage triggers the shutters and doors to lock. I glance around the room looking for Spector but can’t see him.
“Move the women and Zac into the saferoom,” Pirate says.
“Tools, secure the windows,” I call out, kissing Jenna’s forehead and putting her hand in Flip’s.
“You guard her like she’s yours.” He nods and pulls her away from me.
“Prez, this door is hot.” Torque calls out over his shoulder.
“FIRE ZONE TWO.”
“Shit,” I rush down the hall to the security room and find Spector cursing and looking at the screens.
The guardhouse is destroyed, lying in pieces on the ground. Tire tracks going through it on the gravel. I count three bodies down in the wreckage. The other five screens show the perimeter of the building.
We’re completely surrounded.
“Report,” Pirate snaps, entering the room.
“We have three men down and ten Devils setting fire to the building. Fire suppression is rebooting after the power loss, but it will take ten minutes. Whatever they’re spraying on the building is corrosive as hell.
It’s gonna get hot in here, Prez.” Spector keeps typing on his computer as I watch the screens.
“Suggestions?” I yell out to the men crowding the hall, waiting for instruction.
“I can take some out from the roof. I know Wizard is a decent shooter.” I glance at them both.
“Wiz, how high are you?” The man grins at me.
“I only see two of you.” Fucking hell.
“Go! Wear vests.” I toss them both radios, and they jog away to arm up.
“I need to get into the crawl space and manually reset the fire suppressant. Whatever they cut has damaged my remote capability.” Spector turns, cursing, grabbing the tools he needs and an earpiece.
“Cyclone, give him cover.” He nods, grabbing a radio, as I look back at the feed for the guard house.
“What about them?” Pirate moves in closer to see.
“FUCK!” Sprocket rolls over onto his stomach and crawls to one of the other guards.
“Who’s out there with him?” Prez keeps his eye on his little brother.
“Wrench and Flathead.” I read off the duty log hanging on the wall.
“I can get to them,” Padre says, watching his cousin pull a lifeless man behind a dumpster for cover.
“Max,” Pirate starts, but his cousin cuts him off.
“I ran varsity track, remember? He’s blood. I can do this.” Prez nods, and Padre doesn’t waste a single second following after Cyclone.
With the doors locked and shutters fully covering the windows, the only way out of the building is by the rooftop or the crawlspace. I lift my radio to warn the men on the roof that we’ll have a runner outside soon.
“Ares, Padre is making a dash for the guard house.” The radio crackles to life in my hand.
“Wait until we start firing. Hopefully that will draw them all to the front to give you a clear path.” Ares says in a winded voice.
Climbing onto our roof isn’t easy and takes some serious upper-body strength, especially without the remote ramp that lowers when we have power. He’d have to jump to the ledge and pull himself up. One misstep and it’s a twenty-five-foot fall through a glass sunroof into our kitchen.
“Copy,” Padre says.
“Damaged window. Zone Four.”
My blood runs cold as I push Pirate out of the way as the alarm blares out the warning.
That’s the safe room.
