38. Tyson
TYSON
I sat in Addy’s driveway for a few minutes before driving away. I know I should have told her about Tj, but I also thought he was safe. I managed to keep him safe for ten years, before, during and after my career.
My phone rang and it was my ex wife. “What the fuck Tyson?!”
“I’ll be there shortly.” I hung up, then pulled out onto the highway to her house. Really it was my fucking house paying her hush money all these years.
Pulling into her driveway again brought back every shitty memory. I loved Tj but I was too busy to see him until recently and I regret it. Always will. I’m lucky though that he still loves me. Tj still asks for me and he wants to spend time with me.
The front door flew open and Tj ran out. He was the spitting image of me and it drove my ex crazy. “Dad!”
“Hey buddy…” I lifted him up and he hung around my neck. Becky, my ex, stayed in the doorway with a hard scowl on her face.
“You have some explaining to do.” She tapped her foot as I walked up.
“Yeah, yeah.” I rolled my eyes and she flipped me off. I regretted leaving Addy's house like I did. I wanted to be with Addy, but I needed to clear things up with Becky first. She never had Tj’s best interest at heart but she had the most stable life compared to mine.
We sat in the living room, Tj on my lap and Becky across from me in a recliner. “How do they know so much about us?”
“I don’t know. The people who follow Addy are very resourceful.” I had no other explanation but given my taste of what they could do, this statement wasn’t wrong.
“What does this mean for us? Do we have to move? He loves his school.” She of course would go right to moving him further away from me.
Tj shifted in my lap, “I don’t want to move.” He looked up at me with the saddest eyes and it broke my heart.
“You don’t have to move.” I looked back at Becky, she was scaring him on purpose. “We’ll figure this out. Can you go upstairs while I talk to your mother?”
“I guess.” He slid off my lap and trudged upstairs. When we heard the door close I turned back to Becky.
“How do I know that you didn’t tell the reporters about him to get back at me? Whenever I get some kind of happiness you always ruin it and use Tj as the middle man.” This wasn’t the first time she’d done something like this or at least threatened it.
She put her hand on her chest, “I would never. But I’ll expect more money from you for our…pain and suffering.” She grinned. Fucking bitch. I was in a position to take Tj now and I could leave her behind. I wouldn’t do that, but I could.
“You do know that he is my son too and I have a lot of powerful people in my corner to get him to stay with me one hundred percent of the time. It wouldn’t be hard to convince a court that you are psycho.” I didn’t want Tj to know that his mom was a bitch.
“You can’t prove I did anything Ty. I’m distressed that my little boy has been followed by reporters and is in danger.” I really don’t think reporters followed around a ten year old. They might be shitty but that was a bit far.
“It would be hard to find him, unless someone gave them his schedule.” I cocked my head. “You think you can outsmart me, but you can’t. Anything you can do, I can do better.”
She matched my cocked head and smiled. “I have your son, and you can’t do anything about it.” That’s what she thought.
“Watch me.” I stood up and walked to where she was sitting, then caged her in where she was with my arms. “You picked a fight you can’t win and you did something much worse this time.
You fucked with the one person who has more fire power than me.
” Becky’s eyes got big. “I hope you realize the war you’ve started.
” Adelaide would be in my corner once I talked to her.
That is if she’d talk to me.
I also had Laurel too. She was powerful and I wouldn’t be surprised if she could dig up who got the information about Tj.
“I-I…” She stuttered and I slammed my hand over her mouth.
“You are done talking. If you think you can put MY son at risk again you are sorely mistaken. That time is so fucking done. I’m taking back what is rightfully mine and you are going to lose every-fucking-thing around you.
Enjoy it while you can, because you fucked up.
” I pulled back and she slumped forward in the chair gasping.
I didn’t fucking touch her even though she acted like I just beat her.
“Y-you can’t threaten me. I’m the mother of your child.” Like that fucking mattered.
“I just did.” I turned and walked out. Now to figure out how to prove that Becky put our son at risk.
