Ari
Mark seemed like he was going to be nothing but trouble, and my mom is so in love that she can’t even see it. The way he looked at me when I was leaving out the house had me creeped out.
My phone lit up in my hand and I looked down to see that it was Mike texting.
He was still trying to apologize, but I was done with his ass.
You can’t think you can disrespect me and get away with it.
If I allow it once, these negros will keep doing it.
Not me, I’m not built like that. Turning around, I went back in the house, into Ciera’s room and laid on her bed.
“What you think about Ma acting all brand new over Mark?” I asked. She let out a long sigh and shook her head.
“Girl, I don't know. Ever since she got with that man, she ain't been acting like herself. It's like she got blinders on or some shit. Mark gives me weird vibes, and the fact that Ma don't see it makes it even worse.”
“See, that's what I'm saying,” I replied. “I thought maybe I was tripping.”
“Nah, you ain't tripping. Something about him just feels off. I can't put my finger on it, but my gut keeps telling me to pay attention.”
I nodded. “You know she tripping she not even listening to Grams.”
My sister snorted. “Please, I know she lonely but to put a nigga before your kids and disregard your own Mom, yeah she’s tripping for real..”
“Facts,” I laughed.
“Just keep your eyes open, Ari. That's all I'm saying. Since Grams don't trust him we shouldn’t either, and you know she can read people better than anybody.”
I chuckled, thinking about the way Grams went in on they ass. Mark looked like his ass was scared to breathe wrong when she got going.
“Man, Grams snapped off.”
“She sure did,” my sister laughed. “And I enjoyed every second of it. That lady don't play about her grandbabies.”
“Not one bit.” I smiled. “Maybe that's why Mark looked like he was ready to run out the front door.”
“Good,” she said. “Let him stay nervous.”
Ciera and I were in her room going through the things that we’d gotten from the mall earlier and the damn shopping spree that she was on in the Gucci store.
I couldn’t believe that her boss bought her all of this shit.
I could kick my damn self for going into that Apple Store.
Matter of fact, I ought to kick my own ass.
I would’ve been in there picking me some shit out to.
But I needed to order my MacBook Pro for school.
I started looking around her room at all of the bags, and shook my head because yesss that’s the type of man I wanted, one that will spoil the hell outta me.
We were trying to figure out what we were wearing to club Velvet.
People were hyping it up, saying it was gonna be jumping, so Toya, Ciera, and I would definitely be in the building.
Ciera decided on a black bodysuit that had the back out, and I’m rocking a red crop top, with black leather pants that look like they were painted on.
“We gone shut this shit down tomorrow night!” I said.
“Damn Ci, I can’t believe dude really bought you all of this stuff.” I said, smiling from ear to ear excited for her.
“Girl, I can’t believe it either and he wouldn’t take no for an answer,” she smiled.
“I knew, I should’ve taken my lazy ass in the store with you.”
“Sis, he asked me out to dinner, but I don’t think I should go.”
“You crazy as hell, I would beat his ass to the restaurant. He did all of this for you, and you said he was fine! Don’t be afraid to try something new, Ci. It’s ok to date.”
“But he’s my boss, Ari.”
“Who the fuck cares! They do that shit every day in corporate America,” I said to her. We sat in her room and ordered us some takeout, laughing and talking about going to the club. A few hours later, I was tired and decided to go to bed.
“I’m going to bed, I'll see you in the morning,” I said to Ciera.
As soon as I finally got in my bed, my head hit the pillow, and I was out. The next morning, I woke up to my ringing phone, so I answered with sleep in my voice.
“Heyyy, bitch!” My best friend Toya greeted me excitedly.
“What’s up, Toy?” I asked
“Girlll, I know your ass is not still sleeping. It’s almost 1:30 in the afternoon!” she laughed.
I looked at the clock on my phone, and it sure was. “I can’t believe it’s that late, let me get up,” I told her.
“Yeah, I was just checking to make sure we still on for tonight?”
“Yeah, boo, we good. Ciera and I will be to you by ten so we can pre-game.”
“Alright. I’ll see y’all later,” she stated excitedly.
“Okay, bestie. I’ll call you when we’re on the way.”
Ending my call, I headed for the bathroom to jump in the shower. I know Ci was at work and should be home soon. My phone was ringing again; I looked and shook my head at this simple nigga.
“What?” I yelled in the phone.
“Ari baby, I’m sorry.”
“Mike, I don’t want your apology. You don’t need me; you need somebody that can fuck, and suck you, remember?” Then I ended the call.
I was not about to let this dude mess up my mood because yesterday was straight bullshit. I sat around and chilled for the rest of the day until it was time to party but fell asleep.
Waking up from my nap, it was already 7:30. I jumped in the shower and took care of my hygiene. Thank God I flat ironed my hair earlier, or I would have been fucked. I stepped out my room dressed, hair laid, and face beat to the GAWDS!
I went and knocked on my sister’s door. “Sis, you almost ready?” I yelled.
She opened the door, and I was in awe of her. My sis was a bad bitch, you hear me! Ciera always felt that she was big, but listen to me, Ciera was a size fourteen, and that bitch was killing the fucking GAME!
“Look at you, Chica! You gone kill ‘em tonight,” she said.
“Nope, that will be you, sis. Murdering the scene,” I told her.
“Let’s ride,” she said.
Walking out to the car, I called Toya to let her know we were on our way.
