Zelan

I can’t believe that nigga Rick sat there and acted like he didn’t know what the fuck was going on.

I played my part for s long as I could, and then when he started pleading his case to Ju.

That pushed me over the limit. I had heard enough of this lying ass nigga, and I knew Ju was sitting back to see how I would handle the shit because normally that nigga would come in guns blazing.

I hated a liar and that shit just kept playing in my head because that nigga was still our blood and his pleading for his life was still fucking with me.

Fuckkk! That nigga coulda came and talked to us if he was having money problems.

“Ju, we blood man. You and Z my cousins, why would I do some shit like that to y’all.

“Why the fuck you talking to him. I’m asking you the fuckin’ questions!” I snapped.

“Z, I told you Ron came in, went in the count room and I didn’t see him until he came out.”

Ron looked over at Rick and charged at him, hitting him dead in his shit.

I let the shot off to bring these niggas back to the situation at hand. I hate a fucking liar, that is the second thing that will get you killed, fucking with me. The first thing is fucking with my money!

“See, Rick, we got a major problem with your story, fam.”

“What you getting at, Z? I told you what the fuck happened.”

“Watch yo’ tone!” I yelled at this bitch.

I was fucking beyond heated. He was standing here in my face talking all this bullshit, that didn’t mean shit! Cousin or not, it was lights out for this nigga.

I let one off and let my gun do the talking, right in the middle of his forehead.

“Clean this shit up!” I said to the crew. I saw Juelz stand up, looking at me smirking.

“It’s yours,” he said, and walked out.

Dammmn! He finally gave me the crown!

“Yo, Z...Zelan!” Meek yelled, jolting me out of my thoughts.

“You good, bro?” He asked.

“Yeah, man. I was just thinking about what happened with Rick and how Juelz passed the torch to me. I’m happy as fuck, but at the same time, that nigga Rick could’ve did this shit different. We would have helped him because he was family.

Meek and I decided to run up on some of our soldiers to see what they had going on in the streets.

When we pulled up, they were standing out on the corner, so we got out to chop it up with them.

I heard someone call my name, and leaning on the damn horn all crazy.

I turned around and it was Ma Lai. I couldn’t help but shake my damn head and laugh at this lady, as I walked over to her car.

She was sweet as hell, but a damn fool. On some real shit she had me and Ju wrapped round her damn fingers because we would do anything for her.

I met Ma Lai a couple of years ago in the store.

She was standing in front of me at the register, but she didn’t have enough money to get all the things she had on the counter.

She was trying to decide what she was going to put back, so I stepped up and placed my things on the counter.

I told the clerk to ring it all up, paid for our things, and gave Ms. Laila her bags.

“You sexy thing, you didn’t have to do that.”

“Yes, I did, ma’am. Just look at it as my good deed for the day.”

“Well, thank you, baby.”

We both walked out and began to talk. I learned that she lived around the corner and has been in this hood all her life.

I was so into the convo that I decided to walk with her and carried her bags to her door.

From that day on, she has been Ma Lai, and I go by her house every week to make sure she’s good.

Ma Lai don’t have to pay no bills or buy groceries because Juelz and I did everything for her.

I remember the day Ma Lai met Juelz; I thought she was having a heart attack.

We were out handling some business, and I stopped by her house, so we sat on the porch shooting the shit with her.

Ju and I talked and agreed, after hanging with her, that we would always look out for her.

She was one of the ones that gave it to us straight no chaser, and we loved that about her.

She was someone we confided in when it came to the women, and we joked around with her a lot.

But her ass was always hit on me, and Ju.

We just laughed at her and kept on loving her.

Juelz decided to ride up on me, and we kicked it for a while, we even went to check on ma Lai.

This was our third night this week at her house, that’s how much we loved hanging with her ass.

After we left her house, I decided to head on home, and once I hit the bed, sleep found me easy.

When I woke up the next morning, I went in the bathroom, took care of my hygiene and then jumped on the elevator and headed down to the kitchen. My chef had cooked breakfast, and I saw that Ju was sitting there eating.

“Nigga, don’t you got your own chef at yo damn house?”

“Man shut up! Eat, go get dressed, and ride out with me!”

“Uncleeeeee Zel!” my niece Kari yelled as she ran and jumped in my arms.

“Hey, baby. How is my lil’ G doing?”

“I’m fine. Daddy said we could go see grandma today, and you going with us.” My brother sat there with a goofy ass smirk. He knew damn well I didn’t tell his ass to come over here fucking with me about going to our mother’s house!

We busted it up for a minute, as we all finished our food while Kari talked our heads off.

I swear I loved me some Kari. Juelz didn’t have a say so when me and Kari wanted to do something, we did it.

I ran up to jump in the shower and threw some clothes on.

And an hour later, we were finally headed to our mom’s place.

“How does it feel to have the crown now?” Ju asked me.

“I feel the same. We always been a boss in this shit.”

“Yeah, I feel you. I’m proud of you though, kid.”

I looked over at my bro and nodded my head as we pushed through the streets of Harlem and jumped on the FDR as we headed to upstate.

“You know we may have problems coming our way over that Rick shit.”

“Man, I don’t give two fucks about that, or anybody else that want it with us. Yeah, he was our cousin but fuck that. We did what had to be done.”

“Just be prepared for the unknown, Z.”

“I got this.”

When we pulled up to the gates, Ju scanned his eyes and seconds later, the gates opened. When we got out the car, and headed in the house, we could hear my mom on the phone, telling someone she would call them back later.

“Grandma! Grandma!” Kari yelled.

My mom looked at Kari and picked her up. “Baby, you look so cute today.”

“Thanks, grandma. I’m the prettiest girl in the whole wide world. That’s what daddy told me, and I believe him.”

We all fell out laughing. That little girl was something else, and smart as hell. I walked over to give my mom a hug, and Juelz did the same thing.

“Hey, mom. How you feeling today?”

“I’m well, son. Getting ready to head out and do a little shopping. Zelan, when are you going to settle down, and have me a grandchild?”

“NEVER!” I screamed, looking at her like she was crazy.

Juelz sat messing with his phone, chuckling at the conversation I was having with my mother. She looked at me with her beautiful self. Simone Kassom was a beauty and didn’t look a day over thirty. Our mother has been through some shit, but as time went on, she got back on track and shit was good.

“You two ready for the club opening tonight?” mom asked.

“We were born ready, ma,” Juelz commented.

“Well, I’m cheering you both on, and praying for a great night for you both.”

“Z, we got to roll,” Juelz said, getting up from his seat, and kissing our mom. I followed suit, kissing mom on her cheek.

“Mom call me if you and Kari need anything,” Ju told her.

“Okay, baby,” she said, looking at Ju.

Juelz dropped me back off at home because he had something to handle for Club Velvet’s opening tonight.

I jumped in my car to go check on my operation and my workers.

By the time I got back home, my barber was there to get me right.

After he was done, we chopped it up for a minute, and then he bounced.

I showered and relaxed until it was time to head out.
