“Welcome to Lucy’s Lounge, Mr. Matthews; your table is ready over here in the private room.
Your server will be here in just a minute, and the boss sent over a new wine from L more establishments needed to incorporate it, too.
I was the type to look at the menu before going to the restaurant, so I already knew I was getting the oxtail fettuccini and red wine.
We placed our orders quickly, and it gave us a time estimate for when our food would come out.
“Are you almost ready for Arizona?” Ivory asked, swaying to the music. It was from her favorite artist, Lorelei, a Black country singer from South Carolina. We drove over nine hours to see her back in college.
The annual golf tournament, the Waste Management Phoenix Open, was coming up in three weeks.
I had been intensively training right before Ivory’s wedding.
The facility had a plumbing issue so everything got postponed for three weeks, which helped because while I was supposed to train, here I was wooing my best friend.
I had two weeks to train before we all had to be ready for the tournament.
“I’m almost ready, I have my house manager getting it set up for me. You know I have a whole wardrobe out there already, so I just need to show up. The golf course has been trimmed so we can refresh your skills.” I was fortunate enough to have a mini golf course in my yard.
Ivory was excited to jump back into work so it was God’s timing for us to have to be in Arizona at the same time. We devoured our food in a matter of minutes. Ivory got jerk salmon and truffle mashed potatoes with broccoli. My oxtail fettuccini hit the spot.
Ivory was on her third glass of wine, so she was feeling a bit frisky. She stood up from her chair and walked over to me, enticing me with her every curve, perfectly carved out just for me.
“You gonna keep teasing me or are you going to really show me how you make that shit clap?” Ivory had recently shown me she knew how to make her ass clap and I had been obsessed with hearing that beautiful melody ever since.
While she was putting on the show, I texted her surprise to sneak in through the side door. I turned the music up to distract her. Ivory was really feeling it, singing the song Get It Sexy by Sexyy Red.
I kind of wished this could turn into something else but she would appreciate my surprise better.
“Yes girl, you have to teach me how to do that. This is better than what I came here to do.” A sultry southern accent rang through the room.
“Ahh!” Ivory stopped the minute she heard her voice and began jumping up and down, pointing. The shock on her face was worth it.
“Dj, h-how did you do this? Oh my goodness, Lorelei, I’m trying to stop fangirling but I can’t help it.” I got up from my seat and shook hands with Lorelei, she was even prettier in person.
“I had a few breaks in between my world tour and Mr. Matthews got in contact with my agent and we had to make this happen. As the world knows, I lost my husband and best friend four years ago, so it was my pleasure to play just a small role in the birth of your love story. I might even give you two an exclusive of a new song I wrote, but promise me that you won’t post this anywhere.
” Lorelei gave Ivory a friendly squeeze before heading over to the makeshift stage that the owners set up for her.
“You just had to go all out for the first date, huh? How do you plan to top this one?” Ivory wiped her fallen tears, and I wrapped my arms around her, trying my damnedest to glue our bodies together.
I have wanted this woman this close for so long, it felt like a feverish dream, and I would beat the sandman’s ass if he ever took it away.
A love so clean and pure, one that seems unsure
Is a love that’s worth fighting for.
The one when you take risks and end each night with a kiss
laying in your two-door Ford.
When the sun is going down, our bodies can be found,
side by side until the end of time.
Gingerly, my thumb caressed the slope of her back, goosebumps rising in its wake. I wanted nothing more than to tear this dress off of her, but this thing between us was like fine wine, it needed time to mature. I wouldn’t fuck this up by rushing, Ivory needed to know that she was worth the wait.
The allure of the music along with the feeling of Ivory in my arms, lulled me to another dimension. One that I would abandon planet earth for, I smiled at her harmonizing with Lorelei’s vocals.
“You never answered my question, it’s only our first date, and you went all out just for me.
” Ivory’s smoldered gaze was locked on me when she turned around in my arms. I laid a sweet kiss on her lips, she knew I would do anything for her.
There wasn’t anything I wouldn’t do for her, I thought my years of proving that to her through our friendship was proof enough, but I guess not.
“Poison Ivy, this was nothing in comparison to what I plan to do for you for the rest of our lives if you’ll let me.
I knew you would appreciate this so I made it happen.
It doesn’t matter how elaborate this seems, you deserve nothing but the best; I thought you knew that already.
” She tried to duck her head to hide the blush, but I knew Ivory just as well as I knew the game of golf.
“Of course you say that, you think I’m the best thing next to golf.
You’re my best friend, so you kind of have to say that.
” The playful twinkle in her eyes caused my chest to tighten, no other woman has ever had this effect on me.
As a matter of fact, no one had this hold on me, I was eternally bonded to this woman.
“Now, you know damn well I ain’t never been a liar.
I’m a truther through and through, just like my mans Josh said.
I’m tryna be your man soon, so remember that our friendship is what’s going to get us through this.
When you start to doubt something that I say or do, remember all the other times I showed up for you.
” Her eyes watered, but I just gently smiled and swirled us around the room.
All of those ballroom dancing classes they forced us to take in school paid off.
“Ms. Ivory, will you join me for this next song?” Ivory tried to deny herself of one of her dreams since college, but I dragged her over and put the mic in her hand.
She was nervous at first, but I knew she wouldn’t dare embarrass herself in front of one of her superstars.
Lorelei chose to cover Tyrant by Beyonce; it was Ivory’s new obsession, and she played it all the time.
I watched my best friend serenade me with her seductive moves.
The way I could imagine her playing out the words in real life.
Ivory would be a tyrant the minute we took that next step.
My dreams of her riding me were vivid enough, and to know that one day it could be a reality, had me snatching her off the stage.
“But—” She tried to utter, but my lips were glued to hers. I devoured the taste of her, she moaned and it only ignited my need for her.
“You. Will. Be. The. Death. Of. Me.” Every word was followed up by a kiss on her forehead, eyelids, cheek, mouth, and every surface she’d let me.
She gave me access to continue my descent, but the sound of Lorelei clearing her throat brought me back to reality. I was ready to throw her ass on the table and have my way with her.
“It has been a pleasure to perform for you two tonight, but I can see where I’m not needed any longer. I wish you two a lifetime of love.” I gave her a church hug because Ivory had my dick hard.
“You ready to get out of here?” Ivory trailed a hand down my chest, palming my shit through these dress pants.
I smirked at her, “That depends on what you decide to do with that when we get there.”
Ivory didn’t wait until we got home, she damn near drove us off the side of the road when she took me deep into that magical mouth of hers. I had forgotten all about item ten on that list, it was clear that she hadn’t.
