Chapter 22 The Rescue
Unfortunately, before I could kidnap Chu Qingyun, someone else took him first.
A call came in.
"Fu Yuan, prepare two million. Come to the address I send you. Come alone."
The voice was processed. The location was far away, an abandoned factory in the suburbs with no surveillance.
He also sent a video. Chu Qingyun was tied to a chair, his fringe a little messy, but his clothes were intact and there were no obvious injuries.
Someone beside him held a knife and tapped Chu Qingyun's face with the back of the blade. He turned away in disgust.
My precious.
I leaned close to the screen and kissed it.
I told them, "Wait."
The abandoned factory had only one building. From high up, the surroundings were visible.
I went there alone.
I walked up to the third floor. Six people stood opposite me.
One man's right hand was wrapped in bandages and gauze. "Fu Yuan, remember us?"
Of course I remembered. They were the loan sharks who had demanded money at Chu Qingyun's house.
"I remember the debt was cleared."
"Even after clearing it, people still borrow again. We did not want to invite you like this, but we looked for him for days and he refused to ask you for money."
"I can see you are not short of cash. How about doing another good deed?"
My smile grew wider. "Good eye."
I really was not short of money. They simply did not know how much, or whether they would live to spend it.
I threw the case on the ground. "Here. Count it."
They exchanged glances. "Bring the money over."
Just as I picked up the case to walk over, the bandaged man said, "Wait. Break one of your own arms. You look like you can fight. What if you try something?"
I knew he was taking revenge. Last time I had my bodyguards teach them a lesson. His hand had probably been injured then and still had not healed.
He threw a steel pipe at my feet. I weighed it. It was hollow. Acceptable.
"No! Fu Yuan!" Chu Qingyun shouted at me. The urgency in his voice was clear.
I smiled at him, my heart aching a little. "Why didn't you come to me? Do you hate being connected to me that much?"
His eyes dimmed for a moment. "It's not like that."
"Stop talking. Hurry up." The knife in the man's hand pressed closer to Chu Qingyun's face.
I swung the pipe down on my own left arm without hesitation. Sharp pain made sweat break out on my forehead.
But it was bearable. At most a fracture. The hand was not ruined.
"Fu Yuan!!" Chu Qingyun's face twisted with pain and distress. It was worth it.
I walked over and handed them the case with one hand. Suddenly an explosion-like boom came from outside the building.
The man holding the knife at Chu Qingyun got distracted and looked toward the sound. The case fell. The knife slipped from his sleeve into my hand.
I stabbed him in the chest. He cried out in pain and let go.
The men I had hidden on the fourth floor rushed down. The situation turned completely one-sided.
My injured arm hung limply at my side. With the other hand I untied the ropes on Chu Qingyun.
He threw himself in front of me, staring helplessly at my arm, afraid to touch it.
His eyes were red enough to bleed. "Does it hurt? Are you crazy? How could you really hurt yourself!"
I hooked his neck with my good arm and kissed him hard. "You scared me to death."
The tears he had been holding back finally fell after I kissed him.
"Why do you always show up at times like this?"
His tears made me panic. "What's wrong? Is your Husband not handsome?"
"I am one year older than you."
I pressed my lips together. "Then is your Husband not handsome?"
I stared at him closely, waiting for his reaction. If he accepted, that was best. If he still did not love me and resisted, he would simply fall from one kidnapping into another.
Fortunately he only wiped his face fiercely, as if making a huge decision. The fire in his eyes burned again.
"Very handsome. I have something to tell you. Actually..."
I pulled him into my arms. "I like you."
The person in my arms froze, then carefully hugged me back. I felt the tight string inside Chu Qingyun suddenly relax.
"Me too. I like you very much."
