Luna
THIRTY-FOUR
I feel his heart beating under his t-shirt and bury my face against his chest. Nothing has ever felt more right than when I’m in his arms.
The more I learn about him, the more I fall deeper for this man.
It would be so easy to tell him how I feel, but I’m still afraid he’s not ready. I need him to be the first one to admit his feelings, and I’m okay with waiting.
For now, I’m just going to keep on showing up for him and take these little moments he gives me.
“I'd better get these potatoes in the oven,” I laugh, stepping out of his embrace. “You’ve got to be starving. We haven’t eaten since lunch.”
“I’m starving all right, but it’s not for food,” he grins.
I smile over my wine glass as it touches my lips. “The least I could do after I buried you in the sand is help you wash it all off,” I cheekily say. “How about I get these potatoes on, and you can point in the direction of the shower?”
“Deal,” he says quickly. “What can I do to speed things up?”
“If you want to finish the potatoes, I’ll get the garlic ready,” I giggle, taking a sip of my wine.
My eyes widen as the flavor hits my taste buds.
“Is this from Olivia’s collection?”
“It is,” he says, cutting up the small potato in half. “I asked Savi what your favorite wine was.”
“And you say you’re the lucky one,” I murmur. “I can’t believe you went through all that trouble.”
“No trouble. I stopped by Montgomery’s after practice one day, and Miles hooked me up. No big deal,” he shrugs.
Reaching over, I place a kiss on his cheek. “It’s a big deal to me,” I smile. “Thank you for being so thoughtful.”
He nods slightly and finishes up the last of the potatoes while I get the garlic ready.
“It surprises me,” he says, finally breaking the silence.
“What does,” I ask, transferring the potatoes and garlic to a baking sheet before tossing them with olive oil and seasonings. Sliding them into the oven, I set the timer and turn around.
He’s leaning against the sink, watching me. Confusion marks his features as if he’s still trying to figure me out.
“How much I like it,” he admits.
“Like what?”
“This,” he says, gesturing between us. “Taking care of you…having you here in my kitchen…cooking dinner together.” His jaw tightens as he shakes his head sadly. “It shouldn’t make me this happy…it shouldn’t feel so damn right, but it does.”
Moving closer to him, I place my palm against his cheek, and his eyes close briefly to my touch before his hand covers mine and he kisses the underside of my wrist.
“Maybe it feels so right because it is,” I whisper.
The kitchen falls silent around us, and for a moment neither of us speaks.
His thumb strokes my wrist while he studies me like he’s trying to memorize every detail of me.
“Come here,” he smiles.
“I’m already here.”
“Closer.”
I laugh as he pulls me to him and buries his face in my neck.
“You always know just what to say, don’t you?” He murmurs against me.
“It’s one of my many talents.”
“What other talents do you have that I don’t know about?” He asks, kissing me behind my ear.
“I can’t give you all my secrets,” I tease.
“Then, I guess I’m just going to have to discover them on my own,” he grins, throwing me over his shoulder as I giggle against his back. “Let’s see how good you are at washing sand away.” He grabs the iPad with a sleeping Scarlett on the screen and heads toward the stairs.
“I’ve been surfing with my brother and Maverick since I could walk. I grew up on the beach. Trust me, I’m very good at washing away sand.”
“You surf too? Why am I not surprised?” he laughs, walking us past a room that looks like an entertainment area with a bar and big screen TV.
“Told you I have many talents.”
We walk through his bedroom, and I barely get a glimpse before I’m sliding down the front of his body as he slowly lowers me to the floor.
“Lucky for you, I have just as much,” he smirks, setting the iPad on the counter before pulling his t-shirt over his head.
When his tanned chest comes into view, I let my gaze wander leisurely over his tattoo and prominent muscles before meeting his burning green eyes.
His fingers slowly undo the buttons on my cover-up and slide the white material down my arms, where it pools at my feet, leaving me in my black bikini.
I feel his eyes on every inch of my skin as they trail down my body. When they finally focus on mine again, there’s no questioning the unspoken need that pulls us together.
“Luna,” he whispers hoarsely before his lips collide with mine. Our tongues meet in a rush as he steels the breath from my body, lifting me as my legs circle his waist.
In one long stride, he walks to the shower and in seconds our bodies are under a warm spray waterfalling down on both of us.
Pressing me up against the smooth white tile, his hands grip my ass hard, and I moan against his lips when I feel him hard against my center.
“If you only knew how many times I’ve jacked off to your image in this shower, picturing you just like this,” he murmurs, fingering the tie at my neck before pulling it free. The one at my back comes next as my bikini top drops to the floor.
“Fucking beautiful,” he rasps, pulling away and looking down at my soaked body up against his. Despite the heat from the water, my nipples tighten under his gaze, and when he rolls one between his fingers, I close my eyes to the desire that pools in my core.
“I need to feel you,” I whimper, rubbing against his boardshorts that I need gone.
“Greedy looks good on you,” he grins, keeping a firm grip on me with one arm as he works the ties of his boardshorts. When he pushes them down and kicks them to the side, his fingers pull at my bottom strings, ripping the fabric away from my body as I finally settle against his bare skin.
“Better?” He asks as I throb against his swollen length.
“Almost,” I moan, moving against him.
He positions himself at my opening, but keeps me firmly locked in place when I try to move down on him.
“This what you want, little moon?” He whispers in my ear. “You want my cock buried inside you?”
He presses his tip in, and my fingers curl into his hair tighter.
“Yes,” I beg. “Please, Cayden.”
“Begging looks good on you, too.” I feel him grin against my neck as he plunges deep on my next breath.
Our moans filter through the shower as my legs clamp tighter around him. My heels dig into his lower back as he settles deep inside.
“This feels right too,” he says quietly.
“I know,” I whisper. “Nothing has ever felt more right.”
He starts to move his hips, and my body easily molds to his as if it’s been waiting for him this whole time.
He clings to me with a need that I feel deep in my soul, and I gladly give my body over to him for the taking as his thrusts become more demanding.
My breasts slide against his chest, and the friction alone has me on the verge of letting go.
I can tell he’s holding back as his muscles remain rigid under my palms.
“Harder,” I rasp, sinking my nails into his flesh. “You won’t hurt me.”
Growling, he grips me harder as I feel the beast inside be let free. My back slides ruthlessly against the slick tile as he lets himself take what I’m offering.
I’ve never felt the way I feel right now. I feel consumed…wanted beyond reason.
I feel as if…
I feel as if he’s claiming me.
And then he says it…the one word that slips out as our bodies explode together.
“Mine.”
He growls the word as he pours inside me, causing my orgasm to flood my body in an instant rush.
I contract around him and moan his name, clinging to him while pleasure streaks through every inch of me.
Our chests heave together as we remain entangled in each other’s arms, our bodies still connected and hearts pounding against one another.
His grip finally loosens as our breaths become steadier.
“Jesus,” he rasps against my shoulder. “What the hell was that?”
“I don’t know,” I giggle softly, “but I’m pretty sure we set a record somewhere for best shower sex ever.”
“I’ll take that title,” he chuckles lightly, slowly setting me down as I release my grip around his waist and he slides out of me.
Reaching for the shelf, he grabs the shampoo, and before I know it, he’s behind me, and his fingers are massaging my scalp.
“I’ve never had anyone wash my hair before,” I say softly. “I mean, besides my hairdresser.”
“Then you haven’t been with the right guys,” he scoffs, taking his time as his hands lather up my hair. “I told you earlier I like taking care of you. So let me.”
“I’m not going to stop you,” I smile, closing my eyes as I enjoy the gentle touch of his hands.
“Good.” I feel his lips press against my shoulder before his lips graze my ear. “Because I’m pretty sure I just claimed you seconds ago and called you mine.” His low voice weaves around my heart as it begins to pound faster. “And I take care of what is mine.”
“Is that what you want?” I whisper. “For me to be yours?”
I turn around and lock my eyes with his. A small smile appears on his gorgeous face as wet curls send droplets of water onto his features.
“Yeah, little moon. That’s exactly what I’m saying. I want you…officially.”
“So, you want me to be your…”
“Girlfriend,” he finishes.
The word comes out so easily, making my heart flutter against my chest.
This isn’t just a word to Cayden…it’s so much more.
It’s him giving me a place in his life.
Letting me into not only his world, but also Scarlett’s.
“That is…if you want me as your boyfriend,” he says softly, running his thumb over my bottom lip.
“I want that,” I whisper.
Relief flashes across his face before he can hide it.
“Were you worried I would say no?” I ask, winding my arms around his neck.
He shrugs, but I see the truth in his eyes.
“It’s not just me, Luna.”
“I know,” I smile.
My heart fills even more for this man who is so protective of his daughter.
He swallows as a flicker of vulnerability flits across his features.
“Scarlett is my entire world. And letting someone in…” His jaw tightens slightly as he holds my gaze. “It’s not something I take lightly.”
My chest squeezes because I know exactly what he’s saying.
He’s not just asking me to be his girlfriend.
He’s trusting me with the other half of his heart.
“Scarlett is a part of you,” I whisper. “I wouldn’t want you any other way.”
His mouth finds my again, but this time it’s different.
Slower…
Softer.
It’s as if he’s pouring everything into this kiss that he can’t put into words yet.
When he finally pulls away, he brushes my damp hair back and smiles.
“Unless we want burnt potatoes to go with our steak, we should probably finish up in here.”
My eyes widen as I remember they’re in the oven. “Oh, my God! The potatoes! I completely forgot.”
I rinse the rest of the shampoo out of my hair and reach for the conditioner.
“I think having the best shower sex ever is worth ruining a few garden vegetables,” he chuckles, grabbing the body wash and loofah.
“So worth it,” I grin, taking the loofah from his hands and running it over his chest.
I watch the suds slide down the ridges of his abs and instinctively bite my lip.
“Maybe I should do the washing,” he groans, taking the loofah. “Because if you keep looking at me like that, we are never getting out of this shower. My dick knows no boundaries when it comes to you.”
“Probably a good idea,” I giggle, turning away from temptation as we quickly wash up. “It’s not my fault, my boyfriend is hot with a capital H.”
“Say it again,” he says huskily, his breath near my ear.
“My boyfriend,” I smile, feeling the giddiness rise inside just hearing it on my lips.
“Fuck the potatoes,” he growls, turning me around and dropping to his knees. “My girlfriend’s pussy tastes a whole hell of a lot better anyway.”
He dives in, and dinner is the last thing on my mind as he lifts my leg over his shoulder and shows me just how much he loves making his girlfriend moan his name.
