4. Marcel
Ipaced back and forth waiting for Koi to bring her ass home.
Her phone was on do not disturb, and now her texts were going through as not delivered.
If Koi was out in these streets, I was going to spazz the fuck out.
Biased and not giving a damn, my fiancé was a good woman, and the fact that I was the only nigga who had fucked her was always something I prided myself on.
Yet this new infidelity accusation had me trippin’. Koi talking bout she leaving was never in the cards. Maybe I had to step it up, marry her for real this time, just so she wouldn’t leave.
I sighed, ran my hand down my face, but stopped my stride when I heard the familiar sound of keys jingling. Koi walked in with a goofy ass smile plastered on her face, a different outfit than what I saw her in, and her phone to her ear.
“I made it home. Have a good night.” She hung up before noticing me standing there with my chest poked out, jaw clenched, and eyes fixated on her.
“Why you standing there like I’m in some sort of trouble? Your bitch busy tonight?”
“Stop fucking playing wit me yo. I ain’t got no side bitch and you coming in looking like you just got freshly fucked along with the smell of alcohol.”
“Boy bye, get up out my face with your weak ass assumptions. I don’t do the fucking, that would be you. Community dick having muthafucka!” She smacked her lips together before brushing past me with a slight nudge.
“The insults don’t mean shit. I know I ain’t out here wilding out, but you-” she turned on her heels swiftly, index finger pointed in my direction.
“Me? Me what? Let me hear it! I’m so sick and tired of you trying to manipulate the situation and pin it on me!
” I didn't give her a chance to say anything else; by now I was towering over her before I lifted her in the air, leaned her against the counter, pushing her legs apart and dropping to my knees.
Make up sex always hits better between us. I expected her to fight me off, but she relaxed her legs, allowing me to inhale her scent before sliding her thong to the side, kissing her lips and then licking her slowly.
Koi was already wet, making it harder for me to please her without wanting to slide up inside of her.
“Umm hmm, eat that shit!” She hissed in between moans. Taken aback at her outburst, I stopped for a second before she pushed my head back between her legs, grinding against my face until her legs became weak and she cried out, cumming on my beard.
“Shit. I needed that release.” Koi pushed me back slightly, sliding off the counter.
“You tryna bend over or sit on this dick?”
“I’m trying to see what your test results look like since you been running around loose dick. Goodnight.”
“Nah.” I grabbed her arm from behind. “You ain’t leaving me with no stiff dick tonight.”
“I’m not. There’s lotion in the cabinet. Go have at it. But you ain’t sticking your dick up in me, so figure it out.” She popped her tongue. “Now I said goodnight!”
“Watch when I prove your ass wrong!” I yelled loud enough for her to hear.
Koi didn’t double back nor feed into my argument.
She slammed the bedroom door before I could make it to the back.
Fed up with this new funky ass attitude, I stormed into the bedroom and headed straight to the walk-in closet.
Her head was buried in her phone, not acknowledging my existence.
“Who the hell you talking to?” I went to grab at her phone when she backed up, causing me to lose my footing.
“Stop playing with me, Marcel. You want to fight, and I’m over this shit. I’m over you!” She yelled at the top of her lungs. “If you come closer, I’m going to call my brother over here!”
I wasn’t in the mood for her brother bullshit, but I wasn’t about to let Koi throw the nigga in my face.
“Call him, I don’t give a fuck! You out here accusing me of cheating and your ass is in the streets doing what you want, staring at ya’ phone laughing. You probably the one fucking around.”
“Nigga you sound stupid as fuck! I’m talking to my best friend, asshole. But I guess it’s your guilty conscience that got you fucked up, huh.”
“Give me a reason, Koi.”
“Nah nigga, you give me a fucking reason!” The vein in her forehead popped out. Koi’s high yellow complexion was now a shade of red.
“Just dead all that cheating shit. Let’s go get married and move past this, ma.
This fighting shit is eating a nigga up.
” This was the longest Koi had igged me.
While I should have been glad that she even came home at all, I only thought about the bomb that was soon gonna drop, especially if her stupid ass cousin pulled through.
“Marry you? Now you want marriage?” Her lip twisted. “I have been waiting for years for you to marry me, and you choose now to want to do it?” I didn’t know if she was being sarcastic or if she was genuinely turned off by my demand. “Yea, nah buddy.”
“Koi, on the real. I love you and you know that. I’ve fucked up in the past, and that’s why you think I’m fucking around now when that ain’t the case. I was handling something that night, but I didn’t fuck no one.”
“Do I look stupid? Yea. You must think I’m boo boo the fool.” I stood in front of Koi, cornering her into the closet. I lifted her chin gently as she tried to fight it, but I could feel the tension leaving her body.
“Tell me you don’t love a nigga, and Ima pack my shit and bounce. But if you love me then let’s work through this like we always have.” Silence. “You know you the one for me, Koi. That ain’t even a question.”
“Then why do you cheat on me?” She asked me, but it sounded as if she was asking herself the same question. “Am I not good enough for you?”
That question fucked up my head. I loved Koi with all of me, but the demons I had within myself from my upbringing led me to believe that as long as I came home every night, I was playing my role. The tension in the air was thick as I stood there unable to form the right words.
“That’s all I needed to know. Thanks.” Koi backed up, dipped under my arm, and walked around me. “One of us needs to leave this house, and I’m letting you know now, if it’s me that leaves first, I’m never coming back.”
“Aight yo.” Arguing at this point was pointless.
Koi was set in her ways. She had a right to be, but I didn’t expect her ass to drag this on for this long.
She had no proof, and from what I heard, the bitch could die.
Now if her stupid ass friend dropped my name, then I’d be outted, but if she kept her missing teeth, cockeyed having, mouth closed like I told her, there would be no issues.
Twenty minutes later, I was packing my Louis Vuitton duffle bag. Koi sat on the bed, rolling her eyes behind my back. Every time I looked up into the mirror, she would twist up her lip in disgust.
I was starting to think that this shit was definitely the end. All these years later, Koi was done with my ass. Did it have to come to this, nah, but my friendly dick just couldn’t keep a nigga out of trouble.
“This the end?” I stood to my feet, slanging the bag over my shoulder. “You want out?”
“As a matter of fact, I do. You ain’t gonna change.” Her voice cracked. “I played a fool.” My phone vibrated in my hand. We both looked at it before she pulled the comforter on the bed over her, burying herself under it.
“Ima fix this.” Silence. I left the room, answered the phone, and became annoyed all over again.
“Hello.”
“Oh, you can say hello, good, the doctors told me to call you.” Stacey smacked in my ear.
“Why the fuck am I being summoned?”
“Because nigga. You the pappy, the fuck!” She sassed into the line. “I could have called her mother, but then what? Your secret gets out?” I didn’t understand how and why Stacey continued to reach out to me. Belinda was now in the loop, making it easier to get caught up.
“And why the fuck you at the hospital? Her family was there earlier. Shit ain’t adding up, and I’m not dealing with the bullshit foreal.” I told her, tossing my duffle bag over my shoulder.
“Oh, you not? Bet.” She ended the call. By the time I made it to the door, I heard footsteps behind me.
“Who the fuck is she? You really got some next bitch that you moving mountains for Marcel?” Koi's arms were folded over her chest. “I’m going to ask you one more time, who is she?”
“No one. I’m mixed up in some street bullshit. Let me handle that, and I will tell you everything there is to know,” I sighed. “I don’t want to get you involved. That’s why I’m not fighting you on moving out for a while, but trust me, you are my top priority and concern.”
Koi cut her eyes at me. “You’re a horrible liar, but whatever, Marcel. I refuse to let you bring me down more than I already am.” She shook her head. “Leaving is for the best.”
“Marry me,” I blurted out.
“What?” The way her lip twisted in disgust had a nigga trippin’.
“I said marry me. Let’s go to the courthouse, solidify this union, move, and start fresh. Fuck the street shit, I got money in the bank.”
I expected Koi to curse me out, but her silence had me worried. The way her head moved from side to side, I could tell she was either gonna throw something at me, or I had just won her over.
“Marry you? After all these years, now you want to go and get married? Why? What kind of trouble are you in?” Her foot tapped on the hardwood floors. “Because I’m confused as to how all of a sudden you want this.”
“It’s not all of a sudden, ma. I been thinking on the shit for a minute, but I needed to make sure that my shit didn’t come back to bite me in the ass. That’s all.”
“Uh huh, just go.” She pointed her manicured nail in the direction of the door. “Not tonight. I can’t deal with this shit.”
I wanted to double back and fix the shit between us, but I knew shit was too hot right now. Part of me needed her to agree to get married so that when the shit blew up, we would be legally bound together.
Koi wasn’t someone I wanted to lose, but Rika getting pregnant was gonna be the quickest way for her to bounce.
“What is it?” I was met by Stacey, who had a social plastered across her face. “Why the fuck am I here?”
“Marcel? Why are you here? Where is Koi?” The sound of Belinda’s voice sent a chill down my spine. If she weren’t standing behind me, she would have seen the “oh shit” expression plastered across my face. I turned around slowly, cursing myself out.
“Yo, wassup, Belinda. I came to check on Rika for Koi. She just couldn’t pull herself together, so I told her I’d make sure she was aight. Her and the baby.”
“Oh good. I’m glad.” She tapped my chest, wreaking of cognac. “You a good man, I don’t care what Koi says.” She smiled weirdly. “She’s lucky she got her hands on you first.”
“Oh, good, the father is finally here.” My heart fell in my ass when the nurse walked up to me. Belinda’s brows furrowed, and Stacey’s mouth dropped open.
“Father? Nigga what?” Belinda stood in front of me with a dumbfounded look on her face. “Explain this shit to me, nurse. That’s my daughter and grandson.”
“Ma’am, I don’t know the situation. I just know that he is the father, and we need consent to perform tests on the baby.”
Unable to speak, I stood stoic.
“Yea nigga, you got some explaining to do. And to my niece? Are you fucking dumb?”
“Belinda, this ain’t-” the nurse cut me off by asking about the test for the baby again. “Just do what you gotta do yo.” At that moment, I regretted ever stepping foot in the hospital. Stacey knew exactly what she was doing when she called me. Her face showed no remorse.
Vexed, I turned away from Belinda and Stacey. What I heard next caused me to lose my cool.
“Koi this nigga got Rika pregnant.” Was the last thing she had said before my hands wrapped around Belinda’s neck.
“Sir, let her go!” Someone tried to pry my hands from her neck. “Sir, they will arrest you, please!”
By now it was too late; security was pulling me off Belinda. My chest was heaving up and down as I looked at her. “You’re fucked! You’re fucking fucked!”
The security guard led me away and out of the hospital. “If you don’t leave now, I’ll call the cops and have you arrested or you can go, but you not going back in that hospital!”
Playing with fire tonight wasn’t the move.
Koi had already hit my line a few times and sent texts.
My relationship was hanging on by a thread.
The nurse and Stacey had betrayed me. While I didn’t have time to get my story straight, I took it on the chin and figured that all this shit would blow over in a day or two.
“Whatever yo. I got a relationship to save.”
