Chapter 8 The Awkward Encounter
In a secluded small forest.
Xie Yiran approached me step by step with an irresistible manner.
"Xue Ling, don't you need to give me an explanation?"
"Not talking at all and blocking all contact ways, what, are you afraid I'll ask for money?"
I cleared my throat and deliberately raised my volume as if trying to cover up.
"That night was just an accident, and we're all adults. You won't still make me responsible, right?"
"You play it so unscrupulously, Xie Yiran?"
He laughed angrily and gnashed his teeth.
"Xue Ling, you've got guts."
"You didn't learn anything else in college, just became a slacker, huh?"
I almost blurted out, "Who exactly is the slacker!"
But seeing his restrained expression of anger, my rationality returned.
We had always been like this.
Fighting until one of us died, neither would yield.
Separate was the best outcome.
I looked at him with a playful gaze.
"Xie Yiran, you won't fall for me, right?"
His expression froze.
The air seemed to stand still.
I didn't plan to wait for his answer.
"Sorry, I already have someone I like."
"You're not on the list."
With that, I turned and walked away.
Behind me, there seemed to be a suppressed laugh.
I silently quickened my pace.
After evening class, Cheng Yilan sent me a photo.
"Ey, your childhood sweetheart hasn't left yet. The confession wall is all his photos now!"
"Xue Ling, don't you want to take a look?"
In the photo, Xie Yiran sat on the bench under the streetlight.
His duckbill cap blocked his view, and the dim light made him look a bit lonely and pitiful.
Wait... he's pitiful?
I wanted to slap myself.
When will you learn to stop being so love-brained?
