Chapter 7

Chapter Seven

WILL

The kickback was in full swing, and I was having the time of my life.

I was kind of bummed when I got a text from Debbie saying she wasn’t coming.

I wasn’t shocked, though. Debbie was extremely quiet and reserved.

I knew a party really wouldn’t be her kind of scene.

She was more of the sit-at-home-with-a-glass-of-wine-and-a-romance-novel type.

Not that there was anything wrong with that.

As soon as I got here, my eyes landed on Tech seated at the bar with some of the brothers and a few women.

He wasn’t talking to any of them, but I couldn’t help the sudden feeling of jealousy.

This was a feeling I wasn’t used to having.

I didn’t have a jealous bone in my body, but Tech was changing me.

Sometimes, I didn’t know whether that was a good thing or a bad thing.

What I did know was that I wanted to continue being with him.

Yeah, it sucked that we were a secret, but I would endure for him.

And only him. I was convinced he was my soul mate.

The way I felt about him so quickly wasn’t normal.

There was something different about Tech.

He was unlike any man I had been with before.

He was super affectionate yet dominant. When I talked, he listened.

He wanted to know everything there was to know about me.

He was so much more than his physique. But I wasn’t about to downplay his looks like they weren’t top-tier.

God, that man was sexy. The first time he took his shirt off, and I saw that lion tattoo on his back with eyes that matched his, I almost melted. I think what I liked the most was that he didn’t look like the common tattooed biker. His glasses made him appear more cerebral.

It was so hard resisting the urge to stare at him during this kickback. I didn’t want to give us away, but damn, I wanted to be near him. It didn’t help that a few women were making passes at him. When he didn’t pay them any mind, they took heed of the message and moved away.

We weren’t too far apart. I was currently sitting next to Sara at one of the pool tables next to the bar. Cara and Thor were going at it. She won the first round, and he won the second. Now they were going for a third to determine the winner.

I must say, at first, I didn’t know how to act. I mean, despite that I’d gotten close to the ladies, they were still my bosses. Any wavering thoughts I had about how I needed to behave were dismantled when Cara told me to get a few shots and loosen up.

Professional Will went out the window, and kickback-and-have-a-good-time Will clocked in.

I hadn’t drunk too much, though. Cara told me that if I got too drunk to drive, I could have one of the guest rooms here at the clubhouse.

I didn’t want that. I wanted to end my night in my bed with Tech.

I knew that if I stayed here, I would go a night without him.

I was already too accustomed to being in his arms while I slept.

Truthfully, sleep had never been this good.

“Thor, take the damn shot!” Cara hissed as she took a bite of her burger.

She was currently going back and forth between eating and playing. I didn’t know how her tiny self ate so much. I knew pregnant woman have increased appetites, but hers was next level. There was rarely a time you didn’t see her eating.

“Don’t rush me. This kind of talent takes patience, skill, and a… persistent stroke.” He winked at her, and she rolled her eyes.

That made Sara and me burst into laughter. I had been here long enough to know in no way was he making a pass at her. Those two understood each other’s crude humor.

“Pretty boy, please. Ain’t nobody worried about that middle school stroke game.”

Thor scrunched his nose up. “I told you to stop calling me that,” he growled.

Cara’s shoulders shook through her laughter. “Get over it, best bud. You’re a pretty wittle man,” she cooed. Again, Sara and I were roaring with laughter. Cara then turned her attention to me. “What do you think, Will? Isn’t he abnormally pretty for a man?”

Thor looked at me, awaiting my answer. Suddenly, I felt like I was in the hot seat. And not with them. I could feel Tech’s eyes on me. I discreetly peeked over my shoulder and caught him staring. It was like he was daring me to answer that question.

I would admit that when I first started working here, I used to tease the guys and flirt. I only did it to watch them squirm. It was all in good fun. But now things had changed. I was with Tech, and I didn’t want him thinking I was secretly pining after one of his brothers.

“He’s alright.” I shrugged and took a sip of my drink. I took another glance at Tech just in time to see him smirk before turning his attention to the guys at the bar.

My lips twitched as I fought off a smile. I turned back to Thor, and he looked even more offended. Sara and Cara had to clutch their stomachs they were laughing hard.

“Alright?!” he screeched. Thor raised a hand, holding up three fingers. “How many fingers am I holding up, Will?”

“Three. Why?” I frowned in confusion.

“Just trying to make sure you don’t need to go see an eye doctor because I am far from alright.” He rubbed his hand down his pecs and to his abs with a cocky smirk.

“Ohhhh, that one hit a sore spot. Huh, Thor?” Sara teased him.

“Not at all,” he denied.

“Yes, it did. His ass is feeling some type of way.” Cara cackled. “I bet you would rather be called pretty now.”

“Whatever,” he mumbled, finally taking his shot.

I peered around the room out of curiosity.

My eyes landed on a slender brunette woman trying to cozy up next to Viper.

He was standing on the other side of the room with Bear, Big Red, Smoke, and Axel.

They were all shaking their heads while glancing in our direction.

Cara’s raised voice let me know she saw it as well.

“Viper! I’m going to need you to get that bitch from around you, effective immediately!” she shouted as she leaned over the pool table, attempting to take a shot.

Viper had his hands in the air. “Baby, that’s what I’ve been trying to do. I done told her like five times my Ol’ Lady is crazy and will kill her.”

I laughed, but noticed no one else was. They were either looking at the woman as if she were out of her mind, or they were scared for her.

I took a glance at Cara, and she was eerily calm.

She grabbed the cue chalk and rubbed it on the tip of the pool stick.

After placing the cue chalk back on the table, she walked around and took position for another shot.

“Seriously? It's like that, Viper? I’ve known you since elementary, and now all of a sudden I can't talk to you,” the woman said, placing her hand on his arm.

The common room was silent, which was why we could hear her from across the room.

Viper slapped her hand from his arm, taking a step back. “It’s not the talking that’s the problem, Dani. It’s the touching!” he barked at her.

Dani didn’t seem deterred at all as she batted her lashes at him. “You never had a problem touching me in the past,” she purred.

Big Red, Bear, Axel, and Smoke moved away from the scene quickly. Viper stared at her in horror before snapping his gaze at Cara.

Thor stood next to Sara and me, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Stupid, stupid woman,” he grumbled.

Sara nodded in agreement, placing her hand on her forehead. Faster than I could blink, Cara had a switchblade in her hand and flung it across the room. The knife lodged into the wall right next to Dani’s head. Dani shrieked, placing a hand on her chest as she stared at Cara in fear.

Cara pulled out another blade, dropping the pool stick to the ground. “The next one won’t miss.”

Dani took heed and got the fuck out of Dodge. Everyone seemed to breathe easier as Dani made it out the front door.

Viper pulled Cara’s knife out of the wall before bringing it back to her. “That’s how you get a bitch out of your face,” she told him, placing the knife in a sheath on her hip.

Viper chuckled, pulling her into his arms. He didn’t seem bothered by her glare at all. As soon as he brought his lips to hers, Cara’s whole demeanor changed. She was putty in his hands.

I now knew that I would never, under any circumstances, introduce Oscar to Cara. He was a live wire just like her. The amount of trouble those two would probably get up to would be endless.

The rest of the kickback went by without any more hiccups. After a few hours, I was ready to go. I couldn’t stomach watching any more women make advances at Tech. Although he didn’t entertain them in any way, it rubbed me the wrong way.

On the drive home, my insecurities got the best of me. He had only been with women. What if this was just curiosity on his part?

I knew he said he was used to suppressing his feelings, and that after a while, it became natural.

But what if he thought this was what he wanted?

What if, after a while, he started craving to be with a woman again?

What if he decided he didn’t want to tell the guys about me and decided to play his role as a straight man?

I would be heartbroken if that happened.

The situation reminded me a little too much of Jeff.

His father was a pastor and would most definitely disown him if he came out, which is why he played his part as a happily married family man.

But I knew for a fact that Jeff indulged with a couple of men around town on the down low.

I only knew this because one of Oscar’s clients and close friends was one of those men.

By the time I made it home, I was a whirl of emotions.

I was pacing the floor of the living room.

Not even ten minutes after I got home, I could hear the rumble of Tech's bike. I hadn’t even bothered to lock the door because I knew he would be here soon.

When he walked through the door, the smile on his face dropped.
