Chapter 6 Her Face On Screen

Lately Fu Siyan and I had gotten a little closer.

After work he would make time to eat with me, and watch movies like an ordinary couple.

Before bed, he would leave a good-night kiss on my forehead.

I guessed this counted as getting married first and falling in love after.

What I hadn't known before the wedding all came at me after we were married.

Friday was a studio dinner.

I messaged Fu Siyan that I would be home late.

Passing the commercial street, I saw a very pretty actress on the big screen, being interviewed.

"I heard Lin Ximo's next focus is coming back inland to develop. Is there anything you can tell us?"

The host's face was full of curiosity.

The woman being asked covered her red lips, a little shy.

"I'll join a crew in the second half of the year. It's invested by Fu Group. Speaking of which, their president and I are old acquaintances..."

The rest was cut off by a colleague beside me.

"Eh, isn't that Lin Ximo, the one who just won Best Actress internationally?"

I froze.

She was Lin Ximo?

I had been holding myself back this whole time, not searching a single thing about her.

I hadn't expected the name pressed at the bottom of my heart to suddenly take shape.

Lin Ximo really was beautiful.

Fox eyes in just the right measure. She looked like she had been born a star.

"Qiao Yihe, what are you thinking about?"

"Nothing."

I smiled at my colleague.

A few years ago, my dad sent me abroad to gild my credentials.

After I came back I opened a wedding-dress design studio, and every year I only took custom big orders.

By all rights, I earned plenty.

Among the socialites in City A, I had always been the center of attention.

But Lin Ximo, for the first time, gave me a crisis I couldn't name.

At dinner, I asked for a dozen drinks myself.

Halfway through, a colleague beside me suddenly stopped me.

"Qiao Yihe, you look a little off today."

"We're out having fun."

The sharp alcohol stung my tongue.

The phone in my pocket kept vibrating. It was Fu Siyan.

I paused, then hit accept on instinct.

The table was loud.

"Where are you? I'll pick you up."

"No need. Hic..."

I let out a wine hiccup.

"It's still early. This is nowhere near done."

"Do as I say. I won't be at ease with you out there alone. Send me your location."

Fu Siyan's tone was colder than before, leaving no room to refuse.

I trembled without meaning to.

It was so ridiculous!

When he used to stay out for business dinners and not come home until late, I had never checked on him like this.

When it was my turn, I wasn't allowed?
