Chapter 19 Both Of Her Identities Are Trending
Even though she said that, Kendall still got into the police car with the officers. This was her second time, so she was much more familiar with the process. Kendall's statement was a lot faster than yesterday.
Mark was very curious. "How did you know the golden bars were hidden in there?"
One of their colleagues had stayed behind at the crime scene to gather evidence.
While there were no cameras in the shop, the young officer was able to piece together the shattered cabinet and see that it looked no different from the others before it was destroyed.
It was no wonder Cyrus was able to hide the golden bars for over two decades without anyone finding them.
If you didn't break open the cabinet, no one would have suspected there was anything inside.
Kendall confidently and honestly said, "Coincidence. I was just there to eat some noodles, and he came over and sat at my table. He then invited me to his store. You can go to that breakfast shop and ask. A lot of people were there at the time."
Mark nodded. "Thank you. We've already contacted the victim's children.
They've since moved to another city, so it will take some time for them to get here even if they rush.
They had a reward out at the time, and they just told me over the phone that they want to thank you personally when they get here. "
"That's not necessary. It's enough that the criminal was caught," Kendall said, waving her hand dismissively.
Mark saw her generous attitude towards money and didn't feel happy at all. Instead, he frowned with a hint of worry.
"You should take the money. Not only are the victim's children going to give you money, but our department will also apply for a reward for you."
Why would anyone in the world not like money? Unless... she knew she wouldn't live long enough to enjoy it.
Mark couldn't help but say, "You have to get your illness treated. If you have any difficulties, you have to let us know. Have you checked online? I wasn't lying this morning, a lot of people are really worried about you."
He took out his phone from his pocket and showed Kendall the TikTok trending page.
"See? Everyone wants to donate money for your treatment."
Kendall looked down. 'Well, isn't that something.'
She had three out of the top five trending topics.
#DonateForBraveYoungLady'sTreatment
#WhereIsTheBraveYoungLady
#KendallApologizeToMia
The two topics of netizens being concerned about her and wanting to donate to her were at the top, while the one telling her to get out and apologize to Mia was at number five. You didn't even have to open it to know how much negativity was in there.
Kendall looked at Mark. Mark looked back innocently, clearly not seeing anything wrong. He asked in confusion, "What's wrong?"
Kendall extended her slender, fair hand and pointed at the screen. Her finger landed right on the topic of netizens telling her to apologize to Mia.
Kendall asked sincerely, "Look at this one. Do you see anything wrong with it?"
Mark was confused. His eyes followed Kendall's finger, and he mumbled, "Kendall apologize to Mia?"
'Kendall...'
Mark finally realized what was going on, and his expression froze. He looked at Kendall, who was standing in front of him, and then down at the trending topic on his phone.
'How is this possible?!'
"It's exactly what you see," Kendall said, taking her hand back. Her expression was calm. She wasn't excited about the top two trending topics and wasn't angry about the fifth.
Kendall still held the same mindset she had when she spoke to Mark on the phone this morning. "I won't be replying to the top two trending topics. I appreciate the netizen's kindness. If you can, please don't release any of my personal information. Give that money to people who need it more."
"Are we done with the statement? I'll be leaving now. I'll leave the rest to you, Officer Mark. Thank you."
