Chapter 82 Setting Up The Tent

After Kendall and Henry left, there were still seven guests remaining, five of whom were adult men. The meager supplies they pooled were absolutely not enough for a dinner for everyone.

At this point, they hadn't realized that the program team had truly abandoned them.

They thought the program team had simply not yet located the staff involved in the accident, leaving them short-handed to notify them.

They believed that later, the program team would definitely send someone to pick them up.

Everyone reluctantly shared the limited items...

user @MyLoveDaniel: "How miserable. Daniel clearly hasn't eaten enough! After sharing his ten compressed biscuits, he only has two left for himself."

user @EzraFan: "All these snacks were brought out by our Ezra, but he only got less than half a pack..."

user @NumberOneDanielFan: "Ah, I feel so bad for Daniel. If he hadn't shared those ten compressed biscuits, he could have eaten for two or three days."

user @ElijahProtector: "Elijah's three packs of instant noodles are down to a small half pack! And all his mineral water was shared too! Ahhh, save some water for yourself! What if you get thirsty tonight?"

user @CuriousCat: "What's wrong with Mia? Everyone else brought out their things, but she's the only one holding back and hiding hers. She's too selfish!"

user @GymBuddy: "Exactly! And she has the nerve to accept things from others and eat so happily. I suddenly dislike her a little."

user @GoddessMia: "What the heck? The one who suggested everyone bring out things was Jasper, and he's our Mia's fiancé! Liam is our Mia's brother! Isn't it enough that those two contributed?"

user @MiaCanDoNoWrong: "It's just a few bags of snacks. Maybe our Mia forgot. She packed so many things in her backpack. Who would specifically remember a few insignificant snacks?"

user @MiaIsTheBest: "So what if she didn't take them out? Sophia didn't take anything out either! Our Mia didn't eat much, and what she did eat was chocolate, bread, and mineral water brought by Liam and Jasper. She didn't eat anyone else's things! Why should she take out her own snacks?"

user @MyWifeSophia: "Are Mia's fans sick? How can you drag our Sophia into this? Our Sophia already said she didn't bring any food."

user @AngelSophia: "Exactly. If our Sophia had brought food, she would definitely have taken it out."

user @PeaceMaker: "Why do you guys argue about everything! Fine, you can argue here. I'm going to watch the other live stream..."

The 'other live stream' was one that the program team had opened specifically for Kendall and Henry after they left the main group. Since Kendall and Henry were getting further and further away, one live stream was clearly not enough, so the program team created a separate one just for them.

Henry was about five-foot-ten. After deciding to follow Kendall, it only took him a few minutes to close the distance between them. However, Henry wasn't a talkative type, he was rather reserved. So, he didn't proactively approach Kendall to chat but maintained a short distance from her.

Kendall noticed someone following her when he caught up. She briefly turned her head and saw the clean-cut civilian guy out of the corner of her eye. She didn't say anything, kept walking forward without stopping.

Feeling that they were getting further away from the other guests, Henry couldn't help but walk faster and ask Kendall, "Where are we going now?" Outside in the wilderness, there was a greater sense of security in numbers.

"Almost there, just up ahead," Kendall raised her hand and pointed.

Henry didn't know if it was his imagination, but he felt the sunlight in the distance seemed much sparser than before, and the colour was much fainter. The wind blowing from the sea seemed to carry a hint of coolness.

The two walked up a hill. Kendall stamped hard on the wild grass and soil beneath her feet. "We can set up a tent here."

Because of Kendall's movement, Henry only then noticed that the ground they were standing on had somehow changed from the loose sea sand to solid dirt. Moreover, the elevation of their current location was clearly much higher than the previous one.

Henry couldn't help but look back. He hadn't noticed before, but looking back now, he suddenly realized the low, shallow pool where they were playing by the sea two hours ago had already been swallowed by the tide.

The scorched rocks that were visible right after they got off the yacht were now all submerged by the seawater.

Henry was startled. "Is this... high tide?"

"Yes, the tide is coming in, and it's also going to rain soon," Kendall nodded. She stopped talking to Henry, put down her backpack, and quickly ran toward a large rock not far away.

Seeing this, Henry didn't have time to think and dropped his own bag, running to follow Kendall.

He was about to ask Kendall why she was climbing such a large rock hill when he stood on top and could easily see the ocean, which was infinitely wider than before.

He suddenly understood. Kendall was checking whether the director and the program team had returned on the yacht!

Jasper and the others sat in place, eagerly hoping the program team would appear, thinking Kendall's departure was a foolish move. In reality, Kendall had walked toward a higher and broader vantage point, allowing her to know the program team's movements earlier than Jasper and the others.

Henry's eyes widened. He saw the dark clouds gathering on the distant horizon.

Waves were rolling across the vast ocean, and there was no sign of any boat or yacht.

Henry's face showed disappointment. If the program team hadn't shown up now, and those dark clouds arrived, the risk of sailing would be too high in the rain, and the program team would be even less likely to appear.

Kendall's expression was calm. After confirming the program team still hadn't arrived, she turned and walked back. Henry quickly followed. He had seen the dark clouds over the ocean, if they drifted over, there would definitely be heavy rain! No wonder he felt the wind blowing colder just now!

Standing on the rock hill, Henry could vaguely see the figures of Daniel and the others. He waved at them and loudly shouted, "Daniel! The program team's boat didn't come! It's going to rain soon!!!"

After shouting twice, and regardless of whether they understood him, Henry turned and followed Kendall.

Kendall had once served as a summer camp leader in college, making her quite experienced in setting up tents.

However, the program team might have custom-made the tents, considering the guests would be surviving on a deserted island for '30 Days of Survival'.

The tent material was especially thick, and the space was larger than average.

Kendall unzipped the tent and found a waterproof ground cover and a small blanket inside, which was incredibly thoughtful.

No wonder the tent was so large even when new and unopened.

"This tent is a bit big. Let's set it up together," Henry proactively offered to help.

Considering that the efficiency of two people was indeed higher than one, Kendall nodded in agreement.

They worked quickly. Moreover, the spot Kendall chose was particularly suitable for camping, so they soon had the tent erected.

They used ground stakes when setting up the tent.

With the stakes firmly securing the tent, Kendall wasn't worried about it being blown away by strong winds or heavy rain.

Once the tent was set up, Henry undeniably felt a sense of relief, as if he instantly had a sense of security. Looking at the dark clouds in the sky, he no longer felt the same panic as before. Henry took a bottle of water from his backpack and handed it to Kendall. "Want some water?"

Kendall took it. "Thank you." She then took an apple from her pocket, cut it with a survival knife, and handed half to Henry. Henry didn't stand on ceremony and immediately took it.

user @PuppyLove: "What the hell? Where did she get fruit?"

user @AngryTeen: "What the heck! How does Kendall have an apple?"

user @FeedMeRamen: "This apple can't have been picked on the deserted island, can it?"

user @DetectiveSoo: "She's been in the live stream the whole time. Where would she get a chance to pick fruit!"

user @ChasingWinds: "Since she took it out of her pocket, she must have been carrying it with her all along."

The apple was indeed what Kendall had brought with her when she left home that morning.

It was an impulse buy, but now it served well to slightly curb her hunger.

After finishing the apple, Kendall pulled her backpack closer, reached into the outermost small pocket, and tossed two packs of compressed biscuits into Henry's lap.

Then, she took out another pack for herself, tore it open, and began to eat.

Henry, who had just finished his apple, was fed again by Kendall. He was stunned for a second, then said awkwardly, "Thank you."

user @ApplePie: "Henry is definitely latching onto a powerhouse. The tent is set up, and he's fed."

user @UnapologeticallyHonest: "Looking at it this way, Kendall seems pretty good.

Although she appears cold and aloof, she proactively shares information she knows with the guests, such as about the impending rainstorm.

She didn't reject Henry when he followed, and because Henry gave her a bottle of water, she also shared half of her food with him. "

user @QueenBee: "I agree. She seems like a very reliable and principled person."

user @LikesCuteThings: "Hahaha, I'm suddenly a fan of Kendall. She looks so serious and cute when she eats, just like a little hamster."

user @AlwaysPessimistic: "Come on. How precious is water on a deserted island? She only gave him half an apple and two compressed biscuits in return."

user @KingDaniel: "If she were a little kinder, and talked to the other guests a bit more, Daniel and the others wouldn't be just starting to set up their tents now."

user @JustHereForFun: "The sun has set, and the dark clouds are here! They are only just discussing whether to set up a tent. It seems too late, ahhh!"

user @GoddessMia: "I'm so angry! Why isn't the person who's going to get drenched that scum Kendall!"

user @InterestedPasserby: "???"

user @SensibleSoul: "Are you people sick? This is Kendall and Henry's live stream. If you like your idol, go to the other live stream, okay!"

user @WanderingCloud: "Hahaha, you must be a sewage worker for your language to be so foul. Luckily it was censored, and we can't see it."

user @WanderingCloud: "Hahaha, still can't see it! Na-na-na-na-na, you can't make me mad, you can't make me mad!"

After Kendall and Henry finished eating, the sky darkened. The wind howled, and dust flew everywhere. The two said goodnight and each retreated into their respective tents. Barring any accidents, a new day would greet them when they woke up tomorrow.

Kendall and Henry were comfortably lying inside their tents.

On the other side, however, Mia and Daniel's group were having a miserable time...
