Chapter 21 The Birthday Gift

Later, I did not know how Feng Si dealt with Sheng Yiyi. I only knew Xu Zichen went missing along with her.

Morning sickness that grew worse, and a mind that felt ready to collapse, left me no room to care about anything else.

After taking that stab, Feng Si lay in the hospital for half a month.

The day he was discharged happened to be his twenty-seventh birthday.

Gifts from other people filled the living room. He did not glance at them. He hurried over to demand one from me.

"You'll know tonight," I said, short and clear.

But he seemed to take it the wrong way. He danced around by himself, looking excited.

In the bathroom, I picked up a razor blade and cut down along the blue veins on my wrist.

Then I lay in a bathtub filled with warm water and waited quietly for life to drain away.

When Feng Si burst in and saw the tub full of bright red, he sucked in a sharp breath.

He called emergency services with shaking hands.

"Your twenty-seventh birthday gift... do you like it? I am finally... about to be tortured to death by you."

I congratulated him in a thread of a voice.

Feng Si crawled on his knees toward the tub, pulled up my hand that had gone pale in the water, and murmured as if he had lost his mind.

"Don't sleep! Gu Qian, don't sleep!"

"Wake up! I beg you! Please, you have to live!"

In the end, he cried until no sound came out.
