Caspian rolled his eyes and scowled playfully.
"Very funny, Marini," he said while he placed his hands in mine, and this feeling of warmth went through both of us that had my heart skipping a beat before it started to pound hard and fast in my chest. I opened my mouth to say something about me not lying, but he squeezed my hands to silence me. I closed my mouth without saying a word, and I couldn't help but scowl and narrow my eyes at him.

"I do not know if I like this bond thing between the two of them," Jonah said and folded his arms across his chest and scowled. "She is still a child and shouldn't have to find out who her fated is so soon."
I rolled my eyes and pressed my lips into a thin line, growing annoyed with Jonah because I knew that he was starting to act like the protective father figure that I knew him as.

"And what am I trying to do?" Jonah asked and lifted his chin in defiance, and I had to hold back an eye roll, even though I shook my head at him.
"You are trying to act like a father figure to me, and that is something that doesn't need to happen because I am old enough to take care of myself. I am not a child any longer and haven't been a child since I was an actual child because of everything that I had to go through at such a young age."
"I am still going to act like one," Jonah said.

"And what if there isn't a bond between the two of us and what we saw was just a trick of the light?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question.
