Chapter 13

AXEL

I wake up in my new favorite way. With Wren sprawled on top of me.

We came back to the clubhouse after our ride last night and I fucked her to sleep. This woman is incredible and insatiable. She surprises me at every damn turn. Right now, I’m regretting not giving into the pull between us earlier.

I feel like we missed out on precious time together.

Her phone alarm blares from the bedside table, making her jump from the bed. She’s naked, and her nipples pebble when they’re exposed to the cool air of the room.

“What a beautiful view to wake up to,” I murmur sleepily as my eyes trail over every inch of her body.

“It’s going to be a long day,” she complains as she wipes her hair out of her eyes. “I need a shower.”

She walks towards the bathroom, and I toss the covers back and rush after her, making her giggle as I sweep her into my arms and carry her into the shower with me.

I set her down and turn the water on, adjusting the handles until the temperature is just right.

Then I pull her under the stream with me.

She stands on her tiptoes and kisses me softly before she grabs the washcloth and soap.

She lathers it before she starts to wash my body and I let her. Her hands feel so damn good on me.

She finishes and I take the washcloth from her, lathering it more and taking my time to wash her.

I spend a little too long on her breasts and between her thighs, but I finally finish, and she pushes me out of the way so she can wash her hair.

I let her, knowing that I’m probably slowing her down too much, and then I finish up when she’s done.

By the time I get out of the shower and dry off, she’s got her teeth brushed, her hair dried, and is applying the last bit of her makeup.

Her hair is straight; her lips are glossy.

She looks beautiful. She steps back into the bedroom to get dressed and I brush my teeth.

She walks back into the room in a pair of black flared slacks, a black blouse, and black stilettos.

“You look fucking hot in all black,” I murmur as I pull her into my body. “What the hell am I supposed to do while you’re at work all day?”

She snorts. “Your job. You do have a job to do for the club, you know?”

“I know,” I huff. “I’m always working for the club. Even when it doesn’t look like it.”

“Well, you’ll survive a day without me.”

“If I have to,” I grumble. “One of the prospects will be waiting for you downstairs.”

“See you later,” she says.

I lean down and plant a kiss on her lips and then watch as she walks out of the bathroom.

I sigh and then walk into my closet to get dressed for the day.

I head downstairs and into the kitchen, grabbing a cup of coffee and some eggs and toast from Chef before sitting down to eat.

Shit, did Wren eat something before she left?

I pull out my phone and shoot off a text to Levi who is watching her today.

Axel: Did Wren get something to eat before you guys headed out?

Levi: No, she didn’t. Should I go get something for her or order her something and have it dropped off at Lenny’s office?

Axel: Don’t leave her. I’ll figure something out.

Levi: Okay.

I eat my food with a few of my brothers and then head back into the kitchen. “Can I get a to-go plate?” I ask Chef.

He smiles at me knowingly. “You better take good care of that girl,” he warns me before fixing a plate of eggs, toast, and a banana and handing it over to me.

“I’m trying, she just has to let me,” I mumble. “Thanks, Chef.”

His only response is a grunt before he walks back over to his stovetop.

I walk outside and over to one of our cages, hopping inside and putting the food on the passenger seat.

We don’t typically like driving in a vehicle because it does feel like a cage, but there’s no way for me to get this food there in one piece on my bike.

I get out my phone and wait for it to hook up to the Bluetooth before pulling through the gates and out of the lot towards town. I call Grayson and he picks up on the second ring.

“What’s up?” He asks sleepily.

“Everything okay over there?”

“We’re all good,” he sighs. “Just tired. What do you need?”

“Can we pull the prospect off Wren? At least for today?”

He’s silent for a moment. “And put who on her? You?”

“Yeah, me. I don’t have shit to do today.”

“That’s fine with me. Just don’t annoy her so much that she kills you,” he chuckles. “I don’t want to have to find a new sergeant at arms.”

“I won’t,” I reply, a smile curling my lips. “Let me know if you need me, brother.”

“Will do.”

We hang up just as I pull into the lot at Lenny Thompson’s office.

There are a few cars in the parking lot, two of which are Wren’s and Lenny’s, the other one must belong to a client.

I turn off the engine and grab the food before getting out of the car.

I walk towards Levi, who is parked on the street.

“Pres says you can head back to the clubhouse for the day. I’m going to watch her,” I tell him.

He looks down at the food in my hand and smiles knowingly. “Sounds good. See you later.”

I turn and walk to the building, listening to his bike start and pull away as I open the door. The bell dings as I step inside, drawing Wren’s attention.

“What are you doing here?” She asks in surprise.

I hold up the food in explanation. “You left without eating.”

“You came into town just to make sure I ate?” She asks wryly.

“Can’t have my woman going hungry.”

Her eyebrows rise. “Your woman, huh?”

I step around the front desk and closer to her, setting the food down. “My woman,” I affirm, watching her pupils dilate.

“I like the sound of that,” she whispers.

“Me too,” I murmur as I lean down until our lips are just barely touching. “Now, eat.”

She snorts and shakes her head before stepping back and pulling out her chair. “Yes, sir,” she mutters lightheartedly.

My cock hardens at her words, and I have to adjust myself, which makes her smirk. I walk over to one of the waiting room chairs and pull it up to the desk so I can sit beside her and then I watch her eat.

“Are you just going to sit here and watch me work for the rest of the day?” She asks as she finishes her food.

“That’s the plan,” I tell her as I grab the plate and walk it over to the trash. “Watch you work and make sure you eat three meals.”

“Sounds like a pretty boring day,” she mumbles.

“Don’t worry about me,” I say as I plop down beside her. “I’ve got plenty to look at.”

She locks eyes with me and blushes. It sends a thrill through me. I didn’t think I’d be able to make Wren blush, but every time she does, it makes pride fill my chest.

I sit there for the next few hours, alternating between watching Wren work, and answering texts from my brothers. Lenny has a few clients who come in and has short meetings with all of them.

I’m surprisingly not bored sitting with Wren all morning. Usually, I’m running around doing things for the club, so I thought that sitting here would drive me nuts. Sitting in Wren’s company is anything but boring for me.

When lunch rolls around, I’m hungry. We’re sitting in silence when my stomach grumbles loudly.

Wren looks at me with a raised brow. “You can go get lunch if you’re hungry. I’ll be fine here for a little while. I highly doubt that Dylan is going to show up here, and even if he did, don’t underestimate Lenny.”

“I’m not leaving,” I grumble. “Unless you want to grab some lunch with me?”

“I can’t just leave work to go grab lunch,” she starts to argue but is interrupted by Lenny.

“You can just leave work to go grab lunch,” he corrects her softly. “I can survive without you for an hour. You guys go get something to eat.”

“See? Let’s go,” I tell her. “Want us to bring you anything back, Lenny?”

“I’m okay,” he murmurs. “Thanks for the offer. You two have fun,” he adds with a smirk.

“You heard the man,” I chuckle as I wiggle my eyebrows. “Let’s go, baby.”

She sighs in defeat and stands from her seat, grabbing her purse from under her desk and motioning for me to lead the way. I walk over to the door and open it for her, following her outside. I touch her lower back to guide her in the direction of the few restaurants we have in town.

“What are you in the mood for?”

“Betsy’s?” She offers.

“Perfect.”

We walk down to Betsy’s Diner, a staple in the community. Betsy’s daughter, Flo, runs the place now, but the food is the same as when the diner opened. It’s comfort food at its finest, and it’s a favorite of the guys in our club, and the people in town.

We walk inside to the busy diner and are pointed to an empty booth by one of the waitresses.

Sophie worked here for a little while when she first came back to town, but that didn’t last long because of Gray.

She had a run in with a member from a different charter.

Sophie lost her job. Not because she was fired, but because Grayson didn’t think she was safe there anymore.

The member that attacked her lost a lot more than that, though.

“Well, look who the cat dragged in,” Flo says cheerfully as she comes up to our booth, but I can see the surprise written all over her face.

“Hey, Flo,” Wren smiles up at her.

I smile warmly at her in greeting. She takes our order and walks away while we talk and wait for our food.

I haven’t spoken this much to Wren the entire time I’ve known her, but our conversation flows easily.

When our food comes, we eat and continue to talk.

It’s like we have years to make up for because we do.

We finish eating and I pay, then we say our goodbyes to Flo before we walk back to Lenny’s office.

I clasp Wren’s hand in mine, and she falters in her steps a bit, but then recovers and walks alongside me.

When we are about to walk into the office, I tug her around the side of the building and press her up against the brick before slamming my mouth down on hers.

We kiss until we’re breathless and then I lead her back into work. She has to adjust her clothes and hair, and I have to adjust my cock again, but it was well worth it.
