Chapter 5

I looked at Derek. He was looking at me, concern found in his eyes.

I sighed heavily. It's not like I can stop him anyways.

I nodded at him and faced my home door.

I bit my lip due to nervousness, what could be waiting inside, what would I see when I open this door?

A million thoughts ran through me again. Before I knew it, I opened the door and we both stepped in.

I did not expect what I saw. I was expecting Dad's leathered couch in the living room, Dad's glass table in the middle and his medium sized TV hanging in the wall, no.

Instead, I saw a broken TV, the couch was upside down and in the corner like it was thrown there, and the table is broken to pieces like someone fell from above and broke it. Everything is in pieces.

To say that I was shocked was an understatement.

What happened? Who could've done this?

My parents are good people. We have been living here since I was 9 years old. I know no one who hates me nor my parents. We have been living in peace, until now.

I inhaled and exhaled loudly to calm down and collect my thoughts. "I'll go check upstairs, stay here." I turned to Derek.

He nodded at me and walked in the kitchen.

With a heavy heart, I climbed the stairs.

I checked my room first, to see that everything was in place, nothing broken and nothing touched.

I went inside and checked my closet and the bathroom, nothing.

I checked the room right beside the bathroom but the door was locked, it means it was untouched.

I also went to check my sister's room but everything was also left untouched.

However when I went to my parent's bedroom, everything was a mess. Papers were all over Dad's desk, at the floor. Dad's drawers were all open and some folders are sticking out.

I walked inside and looked around. When I looked more closely at my father's desk, I saw a perfectly folded paper. I took it and put it in my pocket.

Did the police saw it? I'll submit it tomorrow.

I went downstairs after I checked all rooms.

Claw marks.

Same as the one which we found in the lab. But this one, this one is big and it's form is much longer than the other. The same animal that attacked that lab, attacked my parents and I have no clue why.

I think I might go crazy after this.

I turned to Derek to see him thinking of something.

I don't know. Everything is a mess.

Days have passed since the incident. The police are still searching and investigating. They said that they won't give up until we find them.

I called my sister after the day I came home to tell her what happened. At first, she was devastated like I was, then she told me that she would come home and be with me until the police finds our parents.

My sister knows me best. I might be a soldier, a fighter, fought many battles but deep within, I am soft.

I am human after all.

And my sister acknowledges that very well.

She's now in the living room, sleeping in the couch. She just came home and it's completely understandable that she is exhausted.

Before my sister came home, our Aunty suddenly sent us a letter.

My dears,

I am welcoming you to my home until your parents are found.

I expect you both to be in this house the day after tomorrow.

Get yourself together and start packing.

I know this is not what I should be saying as an Aunt of you young lads, it is upsetting and hard for the both of y'all but spending time with a family member is good for you two.

With that being said, you know where to find me.

Lovelots, Aunty Thea.

My Aunty may be old, demanding and a bit straight-to-the-point person, but she is really playful and all. It's rare to see one of her kind.

My aunt is a painter, she has been since she was 20 years old. She lives in the forest, honestly, I always thought she lives there because she is a painter, but I do not know why at all.

The letter that I saw in my father's desk has been bugging me out. If I haven't read it, I wouldn't go to my Aunt's and instead, help the police with the investigation.

It's the same riddle that the old lady said to me. Exactly the same.

When I first read it, I didn't find the reason how it is connected to my parent's disappearance, however when it said my name and Aunt's, it got me.

This person might or might not be a stranger to my family.

What's more strange is that they called me Luna.

Today is the day we leave the house and travel to go to our Aunt's. Everyday, it is like hell for the both of us.

We're currently riding a train as we head towards our Aunt's house. She lives far far away from us so it'll take us a few hours to get there.

Kris is 20 years old. She has fair white skin and rosy cheeks.

She has pretty brown hair that is curly on the ends and is just below her shoulders.

She has a height of 5'5, and she has the same eyes as mom, green.

Whilst I have no one's eye color. Kris studies medicine and currently resides overseas.

Ooh, looks like someone has a crush. He hasn't even met the guy!

She likes Derek that much huh. I should introduce her to him, would like to see her face go red.

I should maybe take a picture when that day comes and hang it with the caption, "tomato". I smirked to myself. What a very nice plan.

After our train ride, we have taken a cab and told the driver the address of Aunt's house.

When we reached her house, I was expecting rusty old wooden walls, practically imagining the whole area dead.

But instead what I saw amazed me to the point my mouth went open for a bit.

Stone outer walls, a perfectly carved wooden door and a beautiful garden in front. As expected of an unexpected painter.

In the past, we sometimes visit Aunty Thea almost every summer so we spend 2 weeks here and hang out with her. Although, it's been years since we last saw her but we still had connections.

We paid and thanked the cab driver before heading in the house. We're now standing in her porch.

I was about to knock but the door suddenly opened and we both got pulled in.
