Chapter 8

Kring!

Kring!

Kring!

I opened my eyes and reached for the alarm clock to shut it off and closed my eyes. I exhaled.

I got up and went straight to the bathroom to brush my teeth and do my business. After my shower, I put on black shorts, white shirt and tied my hair into a bun.

I went down to see Kris playing games in her phone.

She looked at me then looked back to her phone.

I went to the door and opened it to see my Aunt staring into the forest. What's she looking at though?

She looked at me then smiled.

I smiled back then started walking towards her.

I then nodded and went back inside the house to eat. I went to the kitchen to see a perfectly shaped yummy pancakes with syrup and strawberries already in it. Thank you for the food.

I ate it and it was damn delicious. I always loved the way Aunty cooks her pancakes. After washing my plate, I went to sit with Kris in the living room.

She turned to me.

I sighed and started to walk to my room. I opened my door and closed it with a slight bang.

I went to my closet to get ready after that. I made the choice to wear mid-thigh-length black shorts with a white crop top and long sleeves with a black-and-white checkered pattern. I then put on my white shoes.

I tied up my black hair into a braid. I never liked my hair down, for plenty of reasons. I really love black and white color, if you noticed, they fit with each other but they look like rivals too.

I then covered the mark on my face with light makeup. The bruise is still fresh and I've been meaning to put ice on it.

This'll do, I think. I went down afterwards.

I saw Aunt in the living room with Kris. Aunt was wearing a pink floral dress that reaches her knees paired with a white sandals, her hair was freely flowing on her back.

Kris was wearing denim pants, her white shirt is tucked in the pants paired with her leather boots, her hair was tied up to a ponytail.

Aunt looked me up and down and nodded.

Phew.

She was wearing the same dress as Aunt but a different color. Aunt has pink while she has a blue floral dress. Is it traditional?

My smile faltered. Aunt coughed, attempting to lighten the mood, she turned to Miss Lia then spoke.

She led Aunt and us to what appeared to be the dining room. The space was big. In the middle, there is a long table that can accommodate at least 12 individuals.

It also features candles and highly elaborate decorations. This place smells wonderful. I then realized the interior walls of this house are entirely made of wood and have ancient-looking carvings on them.

The house must be old and have been passed on from generation to generation.

Aunty took the closest seat, she signaled us to seat beside her and we obliged.

Someone tapped on the wall to get our attention for what felt like half an hour. When we turned to look, there were eight people waiting to be seated. They resemble someone around Aunt's age.

They both laughed at what he said. So, this is what Aunty meant by "we" and "our". She referred to them.

Three hours and a half have passed since they started the meeting. Me and Kris are getting bored so all I can do is count the time we spent here.

I took a glance of everyone. They were wearing the same dress as Aunt but in different colors, the men were wearing black coats and black pants paired with their boots.

Sir Tobias was the person who called Aunty and Aunty Lia young ladies. We all learned their names for the last 3 hours.

The woman who asked who we are is named Aria.

The woman who called us lovely is named Tina.

The man beside Tina is named Damien. The man beside Damien is named Ronald.

The woman beside Ronald is named Cora. The woman in front of Cora is named Millie.

Then beside Millie is named Annie. A total of 8 members, plus Aunty Thea and Aunty Lia.

Now I get it. Trackers to find my parents, to know where they've gone to.

Airhead.

Everyone went silent. They were shocked. None of them knew I was a tracker, not even Aunt. It was a trait of mine that I like to hide cause I do not feel bragging about it.

I should be keeping quiet, but since my parents are missing, I can't just wait around for someone else to handle it. My right to find them stems from the fact that they are my parents.

She then stopped laughing.

I mean Tobias is one but what's wrong with a human tracker? It's a bit different and hard but it's still possible since we also have the 5 senses.

Before I can argue with her, Sir Tobias coughed gaining all our attention.

My left eyebrow went up mockingly. All I know about is guns and bombs. And let me tell you something, I can blow up that head of yours anytime...

But I won't since I'm a nice person.

Millie scoffed. She banged her hand on the table but when she was about to speak, Damien beat her to it.

I nodded too, appreciating his compliment.
