The shift in the air
Author's pov-
Divya could feel it-the tension in the air, the unspoken words hanging between glances.
Aditya, completely unaware, continued talking about some random assignment, but Divya's focus kept drifting back to the other side of the canteen.
Purv.
He wasn't talking to charvi. In fact, he wasn't acknowledging her at all. His sharp eyes were fixed elsewhere. On her.
Everytime she dared to glance in his direction, she found him already looking. Not glaring, not scowling-just watching. As if he was trying to figure something out.
She shifted uncomfortably in her seat.
"What's wrong?" Aditya asked, noticing her distracted state.
"Nothing," she muttered, quickly stabbing her fork into her food.
But her heart was betraying her, hammering in her chest for reasons she didn't want to admit.

After lunch, kaashi practically pounced on her outside the canteen.
"What was that?" She whispered urgently.
Divya frowned. "What was that?"
Kaashi scoffed. "You. Purv. The tension was suffocating. And did you see how he was looking at Aditya? If looks could kill, Aditya would be long gone."
Divya rolled her eyes. "You're exaggerating."
Kaashi crossed her arms. "Am I?" Because charvi definitely noticed too. The moment you walked in, she was glued to purv's side, and he still wasn't paying her any attention."
Divya bit her lip. She had noticed.
"I don't know, kaashi. Maybe I'm just overthinking."
Kaashi smirked. "Or maybe Purv Rathore doesn't like seeing you with another guy."
Divya scoffed. "That's ridiculous."
Kaashi shrugged, grinning. "Is it?"
Divya chose not to answer.
But deep down, a part of her was wondering the same thing.

That evening, Divya sat on her balcony, staring at the sky, lost in thought.
Why did purv's reaction bother her?
He had made it clear-he didn't believe in love. He didn't want attachments.
So why did it feel like there was something more beneath the surface?
As she sat there, her phone buzzed with a text from purv.
