Chapter - 36
Nani had a problem.
A very stupid problem.
And he was determined to make it Sky's problem.
It started at breakfast.
Sky was on a phone call, discussing business with someone.
His voice was calm and authoritative.
"Move the shipment before noon. I don't care what excuse they have."
Nani sat across from him, eating cereal.
Then Sky's phone buzzed again.
A woman's name appeared on the screen.
Nani's spoon stopped halfway to his mouth.
He stared.
Sky answered.
"Yes?"
Nani's eyes narrowed.
The voice on the other end sounded cheerful.
Sky listened.
"Send the documents to my office."
Nani slowly put his spoon down.
Dew noticed.
He looked at Tee.
Tee noticed too.
Dew whispered,
"Oh no."
Tee sighed.
"What's wrong?"
Dew nodded toward Nani.
"Jealousy has entered the building."
---
Sky ended the call.
He looked at Nani.
"Why are you staring at me?"
"I'm not."
"You are."
"No."
Sky studied him.
Nani picked up his cereal again.
Crunch.
Crunch.
Crunch.
Sky raised an eyebrow.
"You've been chewing the same piece for thirty seconds."
Nani glared.
"It tastes good."
Sky leaned forward.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
"Okay."
Sky returned to his coffee.
Nani frowned.
He wanted him to ask again.
Sky didn't.
Five seconds.
Ten.
Twenty.
Nani finally slammed his spoon down.
"You're not even going to ask?"
Sky looked up.
"Ask what?"
Nani's eyes widened.
"Nothing!"
He stood.
"Whatever."
And walked away.
Dew slowly lowered his newspaper.
"...Boss."
Sky stared after Nani.
"Yes?"
"Congratulations."
"For what?"
"You've entered the boyfriend boss fight."
Tee nodded.
"Good luck."
Sky sighed.
---
Twenty minutes later
Nani was sitting in the garden.
Arms crossed.
Lips pushed into a dramatic pout.
He heard footsteps.
Didn't look back.
Sky sat beside him.
Silence.
Nani continued staring at the flowers.
Sky waited.
Nothing.
"Nani."
No answer.
"Nani."
Still nothing.
Sky leaned closer.
"Are you angry?"
"No."
"Jealous?"
Nani immediately looked at him.
"No!"
Sky smiled.
"That's a yes."
Nani looked away.
"I don't care who calls you."
"Okay."
"I don't care if it's a woman."
"Okay."
"I don't care if she's pretty."
"Okay."
"I don't care if she talks to you."
"Okay."
"I don't care if she-"
Sky gently touched his cheek.
"You're adorable."
Nani slapped his hand away.
"Don't call me adorable!"
Sky laughed.
"Then tell me what happened."
Nani stayed silent.
Sky waited.
Finally-
"Who was she?"
Sky's expression softened.
"My lawyer."
Nani blinked.
"...Your lawyer?"
"Yes."
"Oh."
"She was asking about the contracts."
Nani's cheeks slowly turned pink.
"I knew that."
Sky raised an eyebrow.
"Did you?"
"Obviously."
"You were jealous."
"I wasn't."
"You were."
"No."
Sky leaned closer.
"Very."
Nani crossed his arms again.
"Maybe a little."
Sky smiled.
"Come here."
"No."
"Nani."
"No."
Sky opened his arms.
Nani stared at them.
Then looked away.
"...Fine."
He moved closer.
Sky wrapped his arms around him immediately.
Nani muttered,
"You're annoying."
"I know."
"I hated seeing her name."
"I know."
"You could've told me."
"I should've."
Nani rested his forehead against Sky's shoulder.
"Don't make me jealous."
Sky kissed his hair.
"I'll try."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
A pause.
Then Sky whispered,
"Although..."
Nani looked up.
"What?"
Sky smirked.
"You were ridiculously cute."
Nani's face went red.
"Shut up."
Sky laughed and pulled him closer.
From behind the bushes, Dew whispered,
"Are they done?"
Tee peeked over.
"No."
Dew sighed.
"Should we leave?"
Tee nodded.
"Before Boss notices us."
Sky suddenly looked toward the bushes.
"You're both terrible at hiding."
Dew froze.
"...Run."
Tee grabbed him.
They sprinted away.
Nani burst into laughter.
Sky shook his head.
Then looked down at him.
"Better?"
Nani smiled.
"Much."
Sky's arms tightened around him.
"Good."
Nani leaned against his chest.
Then whispered,
"But I'm still checking your phone."
Sky stared.
"Nani."
"I'm joking."
A beat.
"...Mostly."
Sky groaned.
"God help me."
Nani laughed.
"You're stuck with me."
Sky smiled.
"I know."
And somehow, he sounded like that was exactly where he wanted to be.
.....
Nani had discovered something dangerous.
Not a secret.
Not a weakness.
A button.
And unfortunately for Sky, Nani had decided to press it all day.
"Mr. Sky."
Sky looked up from his tablet.
"What?"
Nani smiled innocently.
"Nothing, Mr. Sky."
Sky's eye twitched.
Dew slowly lowered his coffee.
"Oh, he's doing it again."
Tee sighed.
"He's going to get himself killed."
Nani walked past Sky.
"Excuse me, Mr. Sky."
Sky turned.
"Nani."
"Yes, Mr. Sky?"
"Stop."
Nani grinned.
"Okay, Mr. Sky."
Sky stared at him.
Nani walked away, barely containing his laughter.
---
At lunch, it happened again.
"Mr. Sky, pass the salt."
Sky passed it.
"Thank you, Mr. Sky."
Sky's jaw tightened.
Dew whispered,
"Four."
Tee looked confused.
"Four what?"
"Times he's said it."
Nani immediately called from across the table,
"Mr. Sky?"
Sky slowly looked up.
"Yes?"
"Can you pass me the water?"
Sky handed it over.
Nani smiled.
"Thanks, Mr. Sky."
Dew covered his mouth.
Tee shook his head.
Sky put his fork down.
"You're enjoying this."
Nani's eyes sparkled.
"Maybe."
"Keep going."
Nani's grin widened.
"Mr. Sky."
Sky stood.
Nani immediately realized he'd made a tactical error.
"Wait-"
Sky walked over.
"Nani."
"Yes?"
"You've been calling me that all morning."
"Mr. Sky?"
"Exactly."
Nani laughed.
"What are you going to do about it?"
Sky leaned closer.
"Remind you who you're teasing."
Before Nani could answer, Sky pulled him into a brief, unmistakably romantic kiss.
The entire dining room went silent.
Dew froze.
Tee's spoon stopped halfway to his mouth.
Three guards suddenly became fascinated by the ceiling.
Nani's brain completely crashed.
When Sky finally pulled back, Nani stared at him in stunned silence.
His ears were bright red.
His eyes were huge.
Dew whispered,
"...He's buffering."
Tee nodded.
"Definitely."
Sky smiled.
"Still Mr. Sky?"
Nani's soul briefly left his body.
Then his embarrassment turned into outrage.
"You-!"
He lightly kicked Sky's shin.
Sky stepped back.
"Ow!"
Nani pointed at him.
"That's for embarrassing me!"
Dew immediately turned away.
"I saw nothing."
Tee nodded solemnly.
"Neither did I."
Sky rubbed his leg, laughing.
"You started it."
Nani crossed his arms, face burning.
"You're impossible."
Sky leaned closer again.
"And you're still blushing."
"I am NOT."
"You are."
"Shut up!"
Sky smiled.
"Say it."
Nani glared.
"...Mr. Sky."
Sky raised an eyebrow.
Nani immediately grabbed a pillow from the sofa and threw it at his face.
"THAT'S ALL YOU'RE GETTING!"
Dew burst out laughing.
"Bro ragebaited the mob boss and got exactly what he deserved."
Tee sighed.
"At least nobody died."
A guard quietly muttered,
"Yet."
Everyone looked at him.
He immediately straightened.
"Sorry, sir."
