"Leaving?" Rehaan's heart began beating arrhythmically.
"Yes." The small voice from her was unbothered by Rehaan's condition as she continued filling her suitcase.
"Why?" His throat was constricted.
"Ammi ji called and—"
"Shahwar." His heart had stopped, he was suddenly not feeling well at all. She was going to her father's house. She was leaving him for good. She didn't want him in her life no matter what.
"Yeah?" She looked up at Rehaan who was on the bed, his face had tears streaming down and he was trying hard to breathe, "Rehaan!"
She dropped the things from her hands and ran to him, "Kya hua? Kya hua apko?" She tried to soothe his back with her small hands but he wasn't really gaining stability.
"Shahwar." He breathed her name out and pushed his back to the headboard of the bed then rested his head against it trying to inhale with his eyes closed as his tears continued to flow.
Meanwhile his wife was in terror looking at his state, "Rehaan, what's wrong? Let's go to the doctor." She kept on rubbing his shoulders with both her hands and then turned around to get her purse but he held her hand.
"Don't go. Don't leave me. Please Shahwar." His voice broke as he spoke.
"I'm coming back, just wait." She touched his face but he shook his head.
"Please." He closed his eyes again, his panic attack had been triggered now.
"Okay, okay." She sat down in front of him taking his face in hands, "I'm not going anywhere, I'm here.
" She was in fact getting more worried now that she couldn't get a doctor to see him, Meher was in her room so she decided to take her phone to call her but Rehaan rested his face on her chest and held her tightly.
"It's scaring me, please Rehaan, can we go to the hospital? "
"I'm fine. It'll be over soon. Don't go." His chest was hurting immensely but holding her was bringing him peace to cope with.
"What is happening to you?" She sobbed, she'd never seen her husband ever in such a condition, he was always a healthy man.
"Nothing." His breathing was getting better but his head was now becoming heavier.
"I can't see you like this please Rehaan, at least let me get some water for you." She ran her fingers through his hair gently.
"I'll die if you leave me." He wanted his tears to stop now, it was a completely vulnerable moment and he had never wanted Shahwar to see him like that.
"Be quiet. I won't leave you, I can't live without you, please." She kissed the back of his head and then wiped his face with her fingers.
"Then why are you packing your clothes?" Shahwar looked at him with a shocked expression.
"I packed yours too Rehaan! What do you mean?" He shifted his eyes and saw his suitcase placed near the wall of the door.
"Don't throw me out." He placed his head back into her chest.
"Rehaan, kya hogaya hai apko? I was packing because we both are going back to Paris." He lifted his head and stared at her in disbelief.
(Rehaan, what's wrong with you?)
"What? We are going to Paris?" Shahwar narrowed her eyes at him.
"Of course we are. Your phone was ringing when you were asleep and I answered it.
Ibaad spoke to me and told me that you haven't been to work since almost two months now, Rehaan.
He told me the losses are piling up more and more everyday.
" Rehaan sat up straight trying to use the strength he had and cursed beneath his breath.
"Ibaad needs to be fired." He started looking for his phone and Shahwar held his hands.
"Look at me, I was on call with ammi ji, she suggested it would be better if we go back sooner, so I booked our tickets for today and packed up. Don't say anything to Ibaad." Shahwar kissed his hands.
"I love you Shahwar." He was feeling like he had recovered now.
"Why were you like that before Rehaan?"
"It's nothing."
"It wasn't nothing. Don't lie or I'll ask Ibaad—"
"It's just-" He sighed hating the mention of it already, "A stupid panic attack."
Her eyes widened, she was appalled at the disclosure, "A panic attack?"
"It's not a big deal Shahwar." Rehaan looked away knowing it was now going to be difficult to talk about. "I'm fine now. They're very common these days almost everyone has the condition." Pursing his lips he tried to see her with the corner of his eyes.
"How did this happen Rehaan? My husband isn't the man to become like this!" She wanted to cry but thought it wouldn't help him anyway.
"Your husband is weak, very weak when you're not there." She threw her arms around him and held him the moment he said it.
"I love you Rehaan. You're not weak. My husband isn't weak. I love you so much." She pulled back a little and then kissed his forehead, "I won't ever leave, where would I go anyway."
"I know I broke my promises before Shahwar, but I won't now. I know now what it's like to be without you. I can't live like that again. You can have anyone in the world but please, choose me. It's selfish but please." Rehaan held her hands on his lap.
"Anyone else is not the man who can go and sit with cats in a park when his wife tells him to come home late even though he despises it." She kissed his forehead again and then got off the bed.
"Where are you going?"
"To get water for you."
"Come back here."
"Why?"
"I'll get it myself." He got up and walked to the door before she could.
"Rehaan! Lie down, will you." She came walking behind him but he didn't listen and kept on going towards the kitchen.
He drank a glass of water and then turned around to see her standing with her arms crossed over her chest, "What?"
"You still don't listen to me." He chuckled and stepped closer to her placing his hands around her waist.
"There are some things for which you'll have to do the listening Mrs Kazmi.
" He whispered and she looked at him confused.
"Let's get you back to the room." Bending down he placed his hands around her and lifted her off the floor carrying her to the bedroom.
"You look very pretty." He kissed her nose that had risen from the pout on her lips.
It was still very early in the morning, eight thirty to be exact and he was wondering since when had his wife been stuffing things into the suitcases all alone.
"You're not going to get up now. I'll finish the packing." He placed her down on the bed and before she could protest he went into the bathroom and got cleaned up.
"Shahwar." He exhaled with frustration seeing her continuing the task he had asked her not to do when he came out of the bathroom.
"It's not much, I'm done." She stood straight after closing the zip of the bag and smiled at him.
"And you call me stubborn." He shook his head and carried her back to the bed. "Don't you get up now. I mean it jaan."
Shahwar smiled and pecked his lips as he laid her down. Rehaan blinked for a moment and then closed his eyes, "I was going to make breakfast but you're being so difficult this morning sweetheart."
Shahwar blinked chewing her lower lip, "I'm—"
She was met with Rehaan's lips over hers before she could say anything.
