Chapter 7

The Rival Pack

That night, the northern border was attacked.

Reports arrived at the palace before midnight.

A rival pack had crossed the border and destroyed several outposts.

The king immediately summoned Kael.

"You will lead the royal warriors."

Kael nodded.

Then he looked at Elara.

"I'll return."

Elara wanted to believe him.

But something inside her felt uneasy.

Before Kael left, she noticed a strange symbol carved into one of his weapons.

It matched the symbol from her vision.

"Where did you get that?"

Kael looked at the weapon.

"It belonged to my grandfather."

Elara touched the symbol.

A sudden flash of light filled the room.

She saw the rival pack standing before the palace.

And among them was a familiar face.

Someone from the royal court.

The vision vanished.

Kael stared at her.

"What did you see?"

"A traitor."

Before they could investigate, an alarm sounded.

The palace gates had been breached.

The rival pack had not come from the border.

They were already inside.

Kael drew his weapon.

"Stay here."

Elara shook her head.

"No."

For the first time, she felt something awakening within her.

Whatever destiny had planned for her, she was no longer willing to run from it.
