Acouple of hours go by, and it's finally time to get out of bed. I spent the last hour just lying in bed reading a dark romance book on my e-reader. It’s an escape I love taking because I can lock in without being disturbed.

I’m shocked that Camden has been asleep this long.

I gently shake him until he starts to wake up.

“Hey, babe. It’s time to get up and start putting up the decorations. The parade starts in an hour, so I want to make sure everything is ready.”

“Sounds good, let’s get dressed and head out there.”

We take a couple of minutes to get dressed and find all the decorations that we need.

When we step outside the camper, I create my vision in my head of how I want things to look.

Shockingly, it doesn’t take us too long to get all of the streamers, lights, flags, and banners out in different parts of the campsite.

It actually looks good if I say so myself.

I look down at my watch and see it’s about five minutes until the parade starts.

Being that we’re in the back left corner of the campground, it’ll take a little bit of time for people to get to where we are.

Hopefully, with our decorations and lights, it will draw people over to us.

To top things off, we also grabbed a bag of candy that we can throw out to the people on the golf carts.

I don’t necessarily have the best aim, but I’m sure we’ll make it work between the two of us.

We grab our camping chairs out of the truck and line ourselves up with the road for when people begin to pass by.

I tried to convince Camden to let us participate this year, but he said we shouldn’t and should just observe, with it being our first time here.

I didn’t want to do it by myself, so I listened to him and decided we could still have fun from the sidelines.

I feel like the people are what make parades fun anyway.

We’re both dressed in our festive red, white, and blue, drinking some beer, and ready to have some fun and hopefully meet new people. I’ve always been a social person, so I enjoy being able to talk to people and find common interests.

I look to my right and see a couple who decided to sit along the road as well. At least now I don’t feel bad that we’re not participating because there are others with the same idea. Before I can go over to introduce myself, I see people in the parade starting to make their way down our street.

That was fast.

There are people in decorated golf carts, while others are on foot, throwing out Jello shots. I was always told not to take drinks from strangers, but fuck it, I’m on vacation.

The people who are riding in the parade look like they’re having a blast. As they ride down the street, I throw a couple of pieces of candy here and there so it can last the rest of the parade.

I haven’t met too many of the other campers yet, but the number of those who keep passing by shows that there’s plenty to engage with tonight.

When I want to have fun, I typically do so.

This can let me get out of my shell for once.

I’m ready for a lively night, but I’m not sure what all we’re going to get into. The bonfire and fireworks sound fun to do, but I don’t know how much excitement can come from either of them. The only thing that sounds good is being able to talk to others and making s’mores.

When I was younger, my family and I would roast s’mores over the fire pit in our backyard, so it’ll be fun to make those new memories with my hubby. For now, it’s time to figure out what’s for lunch before we get ready for the night.
