Chapter 12 Tatiyonna
TWELVE
TATIYONNA
Two days with Jah still wasn’t enough time.
It was my birthday, and he had put it on my ass so good this morning that the rubber popped, and I was rushing home after leaving CVS to take the Plan B I had bought.
What I wasn’t expecting was Kileen to be sitting his ass on my doorstep with balloons and gifts.
I pulled my visor down and brushed my hair.
The big ass passion mark that was on my neck was standing out like a sore thumb.
I could easily lie and say it was a bruise on my dark skin.
Balling the drugstore bag up, I threw it in my purse and got out of the car.
“What are you doing here?” I rushed by him so I could open the door.
“Where have you been? I’ve been here every day since we left our first session. Is that cologne I smell on you?”
“Kil, what’s up with the questions? What is it that you need?” I asked with an attitude.
“I was coming to drop gifts off and take you out.”
“I’m good and thank you.” I took the bag and the balloons.
Same shit, a different year. Our anniversary was always bland, and so was my birthday.
“Tati, I’m trying, and you’re not.”
“What do you want from me?” I put my hand on my hip.
“I want you. I lost touch somewhere, and I’m trying to get an understanding.
If it’s work, I’ll pull away to get us back.
From the looks of your hair and shit, you’ve been doing you, and I can look past that too.
I don’t want another nigga being with my wife.
All the time we’ve put in this shit, I think it deserves another shot.
You can have my passwords to my phones and all. No more hiding shit.”
I was standing here with another man’s DNA all over my body as my husband stood here pleading his case. Did it really take him to see I’ll fuck someone else before he realized what he had?
“And the baby?”
“You and I can agree on something. I want you to be comfortable first. We got to build trust back.”
“If I agree, can you give me space? Like, we got to work our way back up to being in each other’s space. I don’t want you here right now.”
“Whatever you want. Can we at least have dinner together tonight for your birthday?”
“Yes, I’ll have dinner with you.”
“I’ll see you at seven.” He jogged off.
“Shit! Shit! Shit!” I said, slamming the door behind me.
I couldn’t get my thoughts together because my phone was ringing.
“Happy birthday to you…” my daddy started singing as soon as I answered.
“Thank you, daddy.” I laughed.
“Thirty-four years old. Damn, I still remember when your mama went into labor. I was working a damn case when she called, crying. I dropped everything. You brought your big-eyed self into the world hollering. You know you’ll forever be my baby girl, right?”
“I know, daddy. And before you ask, yes, I haven’t forgotten about breakfast tomorrow.”
“Oh shit, you’re not pushing your old man to the back burner. I love you and enjoy your day. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Love you too.”
I couldn’t hang up the phone fast enough so I could take the pill. My phone started ringing again, but this time it was a FaceTime from Casi. I answered as I opened the fridge to get some water.
“It’s my bitch birthday! What are you doing?” She leaned into the camera. “Is that…girl, what the fuck you got going on? You’re holding out on me, and I refuse to get off this phone until you spill the damn beans.”
“Girl, it got a little too good, and the rubber popped. I’m just being careful. He said he pulled out in enough time.”
“Who the hell is he?”
“Jahmir,” I told her as I swallowed the pill down.
“Oouuu, I knew it. The way that man came up there looking for your ass, I knew it was more than some client shit. He’s wearing your ass out, ain’t he?” Casi bit her nail.
“You have no fucking idea, and I love every minute of it. But then there’s Kileen.”
“Eewww, did you just say Kileen?” she frowned. “The fuck he got to do with this? You getting dick down by a fine chocolate nigga with waves and you hollering about a damn Kileen.”
“To get him out of my face just then, I told him I would go to dinner with him.”
“Don’t you let that man back in, Tati. You always said a baby was your line that a man can’t cross. Why do you keep letting this fool think he can have a chance? Divorce him and be with Jah.”
“Girl, Jah ain’t trying to settle down. Have you seen how fine that man is? I’m sure I’m not the only woman that man is putting through the mattress.”
“Does his phone ring when you’re around? Has any woman approached you? If the answer is no, then there you have it.”
“Casi, we creep on the low. No one knows but your ass. We don’t go anywhere where anyone can approach me. He took me out a few nights ago, but it was the next town over. His phone does ring, but when he’s with me, he gives me all his attention.”
Casi threw her hands up and shrugged, “There you go. But whatever you want to do, Tati. You’re hardheaded as hell and going to do you.”
“And is! Now that the pill is down, let’s take a birthday shot, bitch.”
“No, how about I take two shots because you may be growing my niece or nephew in there?” Casi joked. I hung up the phone in her face.
“You look good,” Kileen said.
“Thank you,” I said dryly.
Why did I agree to have dinner and then sit here with an attitude? Because I hadn't talked to Jah since I left this morning.
“So, I wanted to say I’m sorry about the therapy session. I had some things going on at work, and it had my focus off. I’m just glad you’re gracing me with your presence.”
“Don’t be cute,” I told him.
“I’m not being cute. You know how us men are. We have to lose you before our eyes are open. They’re wide open now.”
Three. That’s the number of times his work phone went off as we sat at this table. Granted, he never picked it up, and he never flipped it over, so I was able to see it was an unsaved number. My irritation was high, but I was still trying to give him the benefit.
“Since it’s your birthday, I wanted to give you this.”
He popped the box open and slid it across the table. Inside the box was a brand-new wedding ring, bigger than the one he bought me the first time.
“Do you like it?” He smiled big.
“It’s cute.” I let him place it on my finger.
“I’m hoping this one doesn’t come off your finger.”
Our conversation was flowing okay, but my mind wasn’t here. As hard as I was trying, I was ready to go home and call Jah. When Kileen dropped me off, I stripped out of everything and dialed Jah’s number.
“Happy birthday again. Did you enjoy your day?”
“I did.”
“I didn’t want to bother you since I took up two days with you. How are you feeling? You know, since the rubber popped and all.”
“Jah, you don’t have to worry. I grabbed a Plan B, and if that didn’t work, I’ll handle it.”
He got silent, so I pulled the phone away from my ear to see if he hung up.
“You still there?”
“Yeah, I’m here. Whatever you want to do if the pill doesn’t work is fine with me. I’ll take care of the bill if that’s what you want.”
The hell did he mean if that’s what I wanted? I wanted a house full of kids with my husband, but we see how that worked out.
“Are y’all ready for the twins to start school in two weeks? I know that would give Lonni some breathing room to get some things done.” I tried to take the conversation away from us.
“Time is flying. We’re ready, though.”
“I’m going to miss them when I discharge them. They are the first ones to get a two-for-one session. When I first started with them, I thought I was going to have to separate them. Little Miss Reign let me know she knew how to handle herself.” I laughed.
Jah again was sitting in silence, and it was getting weird.
“Is everything okay?” I asked.
“You were with your husband tonight? And before you lie, just don’t because remember what the fuck we are. You can keep it one hundred with me.”
Yes, I was.”
The incoming FaceTime call from Jah wasn’t out of the normal but from the conversation, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to answer. I hit the button anyway.
“Let me see the ring,” he said as soon as the camera came on.
“First of all, are you following me? How do you know I was with my husband?”
“I don’t have to follow you, Tatiyonna. I run a business, and I have business dinners. What you better be glad I didn’t do is tell that nigga how good that pussy is.”
“You wouldn’t embarrass me like that.” I searched his face.
“Nah, it ain’t embarrassing you. It’s letting that nigga know when he’s gone, I’m going to dig in that shit every chance I muthafuckin’ get. As a matter of fact, I’m on the way to fuck you with that ring on.” He hung up.
I threw the cover off so fast and took another bath. When I hopped out of the shower, I grabbed my phone and sent Jah a text.
Me: I don’t think it’s a good idea if you come. What if he pops up?
Jah: I’m already on the way.
“Fuck!”
Song: Beyonce- Speechless
I dried off, oiled up, and threw on a silk robe.
I had bumped a few curls in my hair to go to dinner, so I put my wrap on and sat on the side of my bed, biting my nails.
The only men who had ever been here were my husband and my dad.
I slipped the ring off and sat it on the side of my bed.
Twenty minutes later, Jah sent a text saying he was outside.
My stomach started doing flips as I walked down the steps to the front door.
Taking a deep breath, I opened the door to see Jah standing there with those diamond necklaces on.
He picked me up, cupping my ass as he closed the door and locked it.
He smelled so good as he kissed me until he went to tripping over my furniture.
He put me down. I grabbed his hand and led him up to my bedroom.
Since Kileen had left, I had changed my bedroom around and made it more feminine.
You could smell the freshness of lemons when you walked in here.
It matched my yellow and grey theme. I untied my silk robe and let it drop to the floor. Jah circled me and licked his lips.
“I usually make love to you, but it’s your birthday, and I want to fuck you so you’ll know not to let that nigga sniff what the fuck belongs to me.” Jah stopped right in front of me and grabbed my face. “You hear me?”
“Yes.”
“Get on the bed and get on all fours,” he commanded.
As soon as he bit my ass cheek and slapped it, I knew I was in trouble. He threw the ring on the bed.
“Put that shit on.” I looked back at him for confirmation. “Now!”
I was so nervous that I put it on the wrong hand at first. When the ring hit the base of my finger, Jah’s warm mouth touched my pussy.
Eating pussy was an art for him. He said he enjoyed seeing me climax and then come back to reality.
This time, he got me to the edge, and I heard the wrapper of the condom open.
Shortly after, I felt his warm head at my opening.
I braced myself as he eased in before he started slamming his dick in and out of me.
“He’ll never fuck you like I fuck you, Tatiyonna.” He slapped my ass. “Can he?”
“Nooo.”
“I can’t hear you.”
“No, he can’t fuck me like you.”
He slammed into me a few more times before I started shaking. He pulled out and lapped up everything I had. Jah turned me around so I was facing the mirror as he reentered me slowly this time. Slow and steady as we stared at each other in the mirror.
“This my pussy, Tatiyonna,” he whispered in my ear. “Shit, tell me this my pussy, baby.”
“It’s yours, Jah.”
“Look at how I make that pussy cum in the mirror.”
My legs started to shake as he sucked on my neck. We both knew we had taken this shit too far. We couldn’t go back now. As he moaned and kissed me, I let the tears fall from my eyes. Jah noticed them and kissed all of them away.
