The conference room is empty as I stroll in. We still have ten minutes before the meeting. I walk to the windows and stare down into the street. We’re too high to make out people, but the sidewalks surge with tiny specks getting out of work and heading home to their loved ones.

It’s a novel concept. One that I don’t believe will ever work for me.

I can’t imagine being so connected to someone else that I’d ever leave my friends. And having someone accept all of us for who we are doesn’t seem possible. It’s one thing to fuck all of us, but for a woman to love us all and to gain our trust completely, I just don’t think that will happen.
